Default Airports and Rides

Do I need a rental car? Or is the hotel a cab ride away from LAX?
Can I get a ride witth somebody for the Hwy #1 drive?

Carl--

There are airport shuttles that run from LAX out to the Diamond Bar area. If you haven't booked your flight yet, consider flying to Ontario Airport instead of LAX. It's closer, and traffic flow will be opposite the masses if you arrive in the afternoon/evening on Friday. A cab ride is possible from LAX but might challenge the cost of the flight. Shuttle is better. Once at the hotel, there will be second seats available for the trip to Sharktoberfest events and I'm sure you'll find one for the fun ride on Saturday.

Sunday event is in the mid-Wilshire "museum district" of Los Angeles, relatively close to LAX. Either a benevolent shark owner will take you back, or a cab ride for the ten or fifteen mile ride will do it. Museum folks at the Petersen can give you best info on Sunday if you need to buy a ride.

It will be a great gathering I'm sure!

Right now we estimate 10:00 AM Sunday at the Petersen Automotive Museum. We have a few vendor already inked. We are looking into ables supplied by the museum and electrical outlets nearby for what ever. I hope to have an answer this week on the details.

ive used supershuttle to get from LAX to orange county or ontario in a pinch.

In LAX you dont need a reservation just find them outside bagage claim and tell them where you need to go and and a van shows up in 15-20 minutes. They have a web site also. try a google. Like any other 928 event, you wont have a problem hitching a ride or finding one.

Thats for sure!

Carl, I've already sent Connie details, but if I were closer to LAX, I would pick you up and bring you to the hotel. I THinK, LAX is closest, but there is John Wayne and Ontario...John Wayne should be 2nd closest if not closer than LAX.

Hopefully the "OC" (Orange County) guys will pipe up to confirmn. Getting around the whole weekend should NOT be an issue if you have no ride.

Keith: Don't forget to ask for "shade" at the vendors booths - some products don't take the direct sunlight too well. Same with some vendors...

Not a problem, the parking structure is huge. There are 3.5 levels. We will be on the 3rd, which half of it is covered by the 4th level...creates half the 3rd level in the shade. We will have the entire 3rd level. The 3rd level can accomodate a few hundred cars with lots of room for many other things. This level is directly attached to the upper level of the musem in which 6 or so 928's will be displyed.

There will be a billboard in the main lobby of the museum to advertise Sharktoberfest to the general public weeks in advance. So don't be surprised if many an outsider is present and viewing the large gathering of 928's. There mayyyy be some automotive world celebrities showing that day as well. We are still working on this.

We are leaving after work on Thursday and motoring until we get tired. We'll spend the night somewhere and arrive at the Hotel early Friday afternoon. Did anyone post the location of the nearest car wash? If you did I missed it.

Here is a link to a web page i made up for the locals.
http://members.rennlist.com/v1uhoh/sharktob04.htm

So far I have 6 cars and perhaps 3-4 more. Micheal? Thanit? you out there!!

I planned to leave a bit earlier this year just to help avoid the evening rush a bit more in the LA area and make it more of a leasurely drive. We timed it pretty good last year, wasnt bad at all. If you can make it to Vegas your 1st day it would cwork really well. I have tools etc etc ..beer here if you need a "pit stop"

For all you folks looking for a car wash, I SHOULD have word on this in the next day or so. I have a good friend who lives in Diamond Bar and is scouting one out for us.

(details, details, details )
