Hi Tony,
When You call Yolanda of http://www.exoticmotorwerks.com/ she will tell you that they bake parts for days to outgas magnesium alloy the best way possible. After searching the net and local shops here, I have not found that level of quality. They own 928s and they do appreciate what we want to accomplish.
Hi Eric - this cover was done for Steve from our Socal928: http://groups.msn.com/socal928/gener...73337877362544
Price $150. Intake and covers: $300!
There are difference in opinion about protecting or not protecting the magnesium alloy inside. Powdercoating may flake off and be injected into the engine, but no protectotion will result in corossion. I have decided to do something new. I will use the best knows magnesium treatment process to protecct my intake and covers - I will Tagnite them http://www.tagnite.com/. They will to the set for $150. Then the parts will be outgasses and powdercoated. Tagnite coat is 0.4mil magnesium oxide, where 0.2 mill of the coating penetrates the surface of the alloy providing coating the will not separate. Will the results. I hoe that this will work.
