Hi there Rob Roy. Your nuts must be bigger than king kongs. You are a brave man. May I ask why you didn't start out with a newer car in excellent condition and then sell what you dont need? Are you partial to the that certain car? Anyway, please document everything you do .I'm sure everyone on this forum is just a bit more than curious. It would make some great reading. BTW , my mouth is still hung open. Good luck and enjoy. Mike.

It would be awesome to have the time, space, patience, and money, to completely rebuild a 928. From the ground up. Dipping the body in acid, removing all the paint, undercoating, etc, and just start from scratch, and build it up perfectly. That way you would personally know that every part, every wire, every nut and bolt, was perfecty installed, tightened, and connected...

Except for the Acid thing (which I may do with the 78, at least some body panels), thats what I am doing with my 89S4.

One of the most interesting things (in my opinion) that you mentioned is that you are trying to adapt the HVAC of an Integra. Can you explain what made you chose this particular setup? Is is similar in dimensions to the 928 system? It would be most interesting to have you document how you adapt it - the 928 HVAC system is probaby one of the major annoyances on the car, and there might be others interested in swapping it with something less troublesome.

This would be a new type of Hybrid - instead of Chevy engine, an Integra AC...

I agree. this would be nice, but when I think of the miles of wire in the car, the thought starts becoming really, really scary...

Bananas - not yet - I think it has to go through at least one winter without freezing - we haven't kept it covered on the chilly nights - we're going to try this year.

Time is something I don't have too much of - my work and family keeps me busy, but I enjoy getting out to the garage when I can. Its taken me close to 3 months just to get to this point. I reckon it'll take me a total of about 2 years - plus my wallet needs to recover between big purchases. It is expensive, but I've always promised myself I'd do a ground up restoration - but customizing to my own tatses - and now that I am a big boy, I have the means and at least some time to do it.

Why a Legend AC system - well I was looking for an electronic head unit, and I noticed that the Integra's looked getcood, and had 2 vents at the top. This would allow it to fit into the center console with some modification,, with the vents roughly lining up with the current center vents. I then found a complete working blower/core/ - so far $65 cost including the control panel. The shape is somewhat different - it is larger than the current system, but I think I can get it plumbed in and positioned behind the dash. I've only measured by eye - but for $65 it is worth the gamble - my blower/core was shot anyway.

BTW Ken,

My Jacqumond Aerodyne rear wing would not clear my rear wiper when installed. I had to pull the mounting bolts and add 10mm to the bases. I'm not sure which wing your CO kit comes with, but check the clearance before you shoot the wing.

Mike

Mike,

Your car sure does look familiar. Thanks for the heads up on the wing. This will not be a daily driver - it wil be a fair weather car - so I am going to delete the rear wiper anyway.

Hey Rob, You think you can get me a couple of shots of the pass front tire area? If you can get me shots of the fender bolts locations and a nice clear shot of just behind the front pass tire that would be great. Oh yeah one of the suspension to. If you can I would appreciate it. You can post them of send them via email to jserio1@socal.rr.com.

Ken,
The Woodlands heh, When I lived in Houston (79-84), you could be chastized for driving a pickup there. I was once pulled over riding my motorcycle through there and the HPD kindly asked if I would just leave the neighborhood as I was not welcome there. How'd you get away tearing down your car in the driveway?
Hope things go well for you.

Tim
