Nice work. So you did the center console by the looks. Mine has the vinyl curling off. Did you remove the vinyl or was it solid enough to just go over?

Thanks.

Sorry, I had replied to this, but the cloud must have eaten it. I got lucky with the center, I only had the corners peeling. I put some E6000 glue and clothes pinned it down. All fixed. I did have to make some brackets to repair the plastic mounts.

bondo filler primer

SEM texture coat- 39853

SEM vinyl prep- 38343, for vinyl not covered in bondo

SEM- 15013 final color (Landau black) for black interiors

if you have a different color, you will need to match as best you can. I will be going through this for my 82, which is supposed to be some sort of dark brown

I am interested in what SEM color that dark brown is. My 81 is dark brown with a black gauge pod.

Lol I posted in Your thread. I also need to know, as my 82 has a dark brown dash as well. I might have to buy a few different shades to get the right one. I was gonna use good ol trial and error!

I am trying to get my 79 back together (the car getting the above pictured dash and pod) and on the road by spring, so I can take the 82 apart and figure the brown out.

the good thing is you can do your repair as the color is the last step. A little bit of advice, cover the entire dash with the bondo, and take your time sanding, get it smooth. Be very careful around the defrost vents, as it is a bitch sanding around them (I used my dremel and a barrel sander tip).

a little sweat and effort results in an awesome product, as you see above!

That looks absolutely awesome. Does it really look as good live as the pics?
YES!!! Even better than the pics...I catch myself in the basement just running my hands across the surface of the pod and dash, staring in amazement at my creation!

I will update this thread with the bits installed...eventually...this project spiraled out of control a little with all my wiring plans for the new/old stereo....details in my “79 Euro thread” (which also needs updating..lol). Have not done the install yet, but getting closer....
