Exactly. This isn't the experience of someone who has never used rattlecans before, "shake it good, turn it over and clear the nozzle, yadda yadda" this is a product problem - Both Checkmate and I have experienced the same issue, and we have both had good luck with the manufacturer's other products. So the question is not how to do it, it's why this particular product hasn't worked right in our experience. Bad batch, old batch?? Who has specifically used SEM texture paint with good results? Any tips?

Yes as I posted earlier do not use the nozzle that comes with the can. Use a LARGER nozzle. You can get one where you bought the SEM paint.
After I used a larger nozzle I had no issues with it clogging.

Missed that post, Greg- thanks for the tip. I'll try the larger nozzle next time.

Old thread I know -- but good information.

What is the trick when the dash has curled?

I've got an '82 Euro with a leather dash.

I have up curls along the edges of the defroster vents.
In some places it has cracked -- but the bigger problem is the
up curls.

mike

This seems almost too obvious a question to ask:

What are the current models of car using for dash material?
Has anyone tried to mold new dashes using todays process?

Great question. My dash is bowed up (curled) at the bottom edge above the center console as well as peeling and falling apart around the vents. Really need to deal with it!

REVIVAL!

I am attempting this now! I have zero experience with Bondo....no clue if this is going to work, but I have nothing to lose!

Learning a few things about bondo:
1: I hate it
2: I suck at applying it
3: I suck at sanding it
4: It is a lot of work sanding it
5: I hate it

Top right corner is pretty smooth...machine sanded with 80grit, then 100....started getting pretty smooth after about an hour and a half of hand sanding....I have to do the rest of the dash by hand, the palm sander takes out chunks at a time....I'm no disappointed per say, since I haven't touched bondo in 35 years, but my head said it would be easier and look better than reality has proven.

Once I get it all even, which will be about Thursday or Friday by my calculations, I will go over it with 200 grit, before I prep for texture coating...

Well as bad as this dash was, it is taking an A$$ load of work....well, that and my inexperience with Bondo....but , I am acheiving results....after hours of sanding, I have 3/4 of an extremely smooth dash. I need to finish the rest. Wife worked yesterday, kids are grown and gone (we had a cookout Friday), so I was alone all day yesterday. After about 5-hours of sanding between honey-doos, I ran out of steam...hopefully I wont have too much work load this week and can complete in the evenings...pics to follow.

Got the dash as smooth as my limited skill set would let me....looks 100% better already, but I am sure someone with a more artsy flair could do way better....ps...I still hate bondo

Looks good! So much better than before. Nice job.

Your sanding seems perfect. How does it look up close?
