Exclamation Sharktoberfest 2004 !!!

Announcing another Porsche 928 Event:

Sharktoberfest 2004
at

928 International and The Petersen Automotive Museum

October 22nd thru 24th - Southern California

928 International and Southern California's Porsche 928 owners group, SOCAL928, are pleased to bring you the 2nd annual "Sharktoberfest" gathering. You are cordially invited to join us for this multi-day Porsche event focusing exclusively on Porsche's Type 928 - the "Shark." This event proved to be a great success last year and stands to be even larger and better this year!

This is your opportunity to meet other 928 owners, share experiences and learn more about your 928. Comprehensive technical sessions and social activities are scheduled for 928 International on Saturday, followed by a fun drive later in the afternoon. Just as importantly, Sunday will prove to be an extremely fun filled day at the Petersen Automotive Museum including many social activities, 928 vendors, informal concours de'elegance and so much more!. This will be a 928 experience to remember!

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS

Friday, 10/22/04 - Reception, 7:00 p.m. - 10:30 p.m.
The Holiday Inn at Diamond Bar will be the host hotel this year. We will be relaxing in the lounge area for an informal meeting and greeting. Food and drink will be on hand as we all share the camaraderie over the beloved 928. The Holiday Inn at Diamond Bar is located near 928 International for your convenience. Be sure to ask for the special "Porsche Club" rate of $69.
Holiday Inn, Diamond Bar 21725 East Gateway Center Drive, Diamond Bar, CA 91765 (909) 860-5440

Saturday, 10/23/04 - 10:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m., Dinner, 8:00 p.m[/B].
928 International
Tech sessions that ALL 928 owners can relate to! Your chance to have those personal 928 issues answered. Find out more about your 928 and those of others around you, as professionals rove about discussing each car and addressing questions pertaining to YOUR car. Share your personal experience in ownership for the benefit of others! Relax and socialize with the 928 crowd and feast on a special lunch provided by 928 Int'l. Due to popular demand, a new and exciting fun drive we call "SHARK ATTACK", will be part of the afternoon event schedule. The evening plans to be equally as fun with dinner at the host Hotel that includes awards, door prizes and auctions.

Sunday, 10/24/04 - 10:00 a.m. -4:00p.m.

Pardon the newbe questions here. In an event like this where I'm not bringing my 928 or any other car, should I rent one or will there be enough people to ride with that are from the area?

Rent or make ride arrangements. If you know a 928'er out here, hook up! There are enough folks to hitch a ride in their car. You might get lucky and ride shotgun in GT, GTS, SC, TC or who knows what!

I'm not a very good passenger, so I'd prefer a 16V to ride in. I've logged enough miles in Tim Murphy's car, the marks in the dash are my fingers.

Nothing against his driving, but 525+ hp takes a bit to get used to when your not controlling the pedal.

Anyone want to adopt me as their passenger? Not 100% sure I'll make this event, but so far it's looking good.

Hacker, I'm not 100% positive I'll make it down. Most likely if I go it will be alone. If I do have a passenger, they have first dibs on riding with me. Next in line, any grid girls that want a ride. If none of the above, you can ride with me.

Hacker:

There are ALWAYS drivers who have a seat available. I don't know, yet, if I will share a ride with Bill again, or if we will come separately, or what - it's still some weeks out and none of us has finalized our plans. But let me say that I can't imagine not going, and I'd really like to bring my car this year.

Either way, if I participate in the fun drive as a driver, I'll be towards the end of the pack - whether I have 16 or 32 valves. I like to play it safe, and when I'm in doubt I always make the safer choice. Sometimes that leaves me behind on these fun drives, but I always know I'll be arriving unharmed...

If Bill and I share a ride in my car, I might have him drive my car for the fun drive, otherwise you are more than welcome to ride with me.

There are usually plenty of second-seat options for these if you fly in. Last year a couple hardy souls tested their rental cars on the ride, and they were OK sinec we told them in advance where lunch was happening. This year it's easier, since the ride is a little closer and the destination is dinner after a hotel visit for cleanup.

I'm way in the back with Nicole, the slow guy in the black car, picking up strays and stuff.

With the Saturday schedule, if you decide not to do the Shark Attack ride, there will be others who make the same choice and remain at 928 Int'l. The drive is an option this year, since the destination for dinner is close by.

Now, getting someone to give up the left seat for you to drive in the Shark Attack, that would be a little more of a challenge. Unless you are Bill and driving for Nicole!

Laugh if you want, monkey-boy, it was your car!

From anybody else, this would be a cheap and cruel jab... but not at me.

I'm not nearly as immortal as I used to be, and my driving style these days reflects that. I'd much rather roll up on the scene of an accident than be the scene of an accident.

---------

For those playing along at home, Ron was a good two seconds behind Joe when he kissed the mountain. Karen and I arrived at least a minute after the dust had already settled.

On the way to Devek....

drbob . . Joe knows i'm kidding. After all it's just a car and he wasn't hurt. A tough lesson learned by both of us. Not because of the accident, It was waiting 5 hours for the tow truck that was painful. BTW . . If it wasn't for the S4's anti-lock brakes working flawlessly, I would have T-Boned Joe.

Well it looks like Rich and I will be dropping by the activities on Saturday. We'll be at Disneyland, so I think we can tear ourselves away from Mickey for a few hours.

Beth , good news that you can attend . I know Mark really appreciated the help that you and Rich gave him at the last race. In fact, he will buy you a nice BBQ Lunch Saturday (catering by Blake's place ) ....actually everyone is invited for lunch ....free . It is looking like this event will be even bigger than last year with a number of out of towners flying , driving here for the weekend . The end of October the weather is typically GREAT , not hot .
