It’s off to a 928 specialist in new year to check engine and mechanicals

typical 1987 S4 came with black spoiler. 1993 - 95 GTS has painted spoilers from factory. This looks like original black spoiler was poorly painted and/or poorly prepped prior to painting.

It’s not started for a few years, the rubbing strip on the back I think has been replaced as all others are painted
it’s off to a 928 specialist in the new year year to get started but it turns over freely and the interior is not bad

That will be lovely once it's sorted, congratulations.
See about getting it dry on the interior. I have found that my car is a pretty good one way valve for water intrusion, and one there's some inside, it take a long time to get it out. Probability says you have water ingress from somewhere near the rear hatch, so a tarp or car cover can help to stabilize things and keep you from chasing oxidation on electrical contacts on the interior of the car.
Cheers
