Loose cables in a 1982 US
Hey guys,
Doing a quick check-up I found these 2 cables loose in the engine bay. She drives ok and I haven’t really noticed any new problems (out of the ordinary ones). I’ll appreciate any help. Thanks! https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...2e246bdd1.jpeg https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...080e5752b.jpeg |
Clearly theres a microswitch near your throttle assembly -not connected-.
|
That could also be for the A/C idle up air valve, which should be bolted to the strut brace. Can you clean up the wires and tell us what colors they are?
|
Thank you both.
the wires are black & ‘white’ (more like off-white). Never really used AC so might be the case. The throttle seem to be connected (from top) https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...178deaa31.jpeg https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...f157a2112.jpeg |
that's the idle microswitch, I have mine disconnected too, sometimes solves weird idle issues. I believe when the switch is activated, "no throttle input" the car goes into idle mixture mode. There's one for full throttle as well, I believe it deactivates the AC?

Oh, interesting. I am still trying to understand where to plug it in. Can’t see a spot for it. Do you maybe have any pictures / guide?
Thanks! I'll try to fin a pic. There's two microswitchs. |
From the '82 US wiring diagram, the idle switch has a black wire, and white/black striped wire. The full throttle switch has a black wire, and wire white. As mentioned, they are both on the side of the throttle body, not far apart.

OP One switch is above the other, look carefully you will see them .
The AC idle solenoid has a set of one black wire and one brown wire. |
