Loose, and unless it's a fresh installation of all new "stock" parts that require a re-tension after 1,500 miles, its a good indication that something is worn out and making it loose and needs to be inspected.
This guy was lucky his was an 1984 ROW non-interference 16v

thats not a LUCKY picture..

I would rather say thats Gross misconduct of mechanics, and poor ownership care taking.


The fact that you found it is a HUGE Bonus to the owner,
as it will get properly fixed in your hands.
