Default Really stupid question about the air pump

Reading thru some old posts about the air pump, a thought occurred to me. 1st, I am not sure how much air that thing actually pumps, but....as it is not really necessary, could one run the piping to the air intake for a extra boost of air ?
When the car was at lower speeds or idle, the extra air could relate to more power couldn't it ?

again, I realize this is pretty stupid, just a thought that came to mind when I read about people removing their air pumps

figure the volume of air your engine swallows per revolution = 1/2 of 5 liters or about 150 cu. in. = about .1 cu. ft. This X 6000 RPM to be making power to near redline = 600 CFM to just break even.

Like Jim said.............. NO!

I work in a metrology lab, 600 CFM is a LOT of flow by our standards. Whatever the air pump "pumps" won't make a difference....
