Hmmmm.....starting problems
Just a quick note to all so that maybe someone else can provide info.
Symptoms...hit the key - starter engages and after what seems to be like an initial 'grunt' only then does the starter spin the engine 'freely'.
This symptom just started yesterday. I have recently replaced the battery, so I haven't checked the CC amp ratings yet (13 hours/day make for long days @ work).
Anyone else have this symptom when starting? Just curious.
TIA-

Found it!!!
Well....turns out it was a bad battery. Not sure why though as it was only about a year old.
Popped in a new one - vrooommm!!!
In as far as the perfect four cylinder...check out this thread on the 968 Board - and enjoy the pics. This 'replica' is probably going to put down ~400rwhp. Not to shabby from a 4 cylinder IMHO.

Jay Rob Fossett, a local stereo guru used to say ad nauseam that once the battery had cycled once, it was toast. I never believed him. So, my wife's auto ... I used to squeeze my big feet past the door lights and inevitably leave one on. The battery died a total of 3 times. After which, it was as useful as a potato.

Since most batteries come with at least a two year warranty it would seem to be a good idea to keep the receipt.
On another vehicle I owned I didn't replace the alternator quickly enough which killed the battery, and I didn't replace the battery quickly enough which killed the starter motor.

Geez...what luck Paul.
The newer batteries don't seem to give you any warning per se. The one in our Camry died without a hint of problem as did the one in my Dodge Ram Truck. I was surprised that this one at least kinda gave a hint.
After cleaning the terminals, relay spades and the fuses - only to have the same result, I had charged the battery over night as well. It was only after the overnight charge and the completion of the above cleaning was I able to point my finger at the battery. I figured that after the overnight charge, it should of performed better - and it didn't.
Be sure to check out that thread I listed above - pretty good pics of my next P-Car project after the Stroker - which will kick off next month.
