Talking It's a good day- I finally bought one! PICs now included

Today I took delivery of my 928. Tax day isn't as bad as it's made out to be!

I bought a 1988 Silver on black 5sp w/ limited slip and 98,300 miles. Thanks to the seller, Garrity Repta, who got it in great mechanical shape prior to the sale! Thanks also to Dave Lomas (Ketchmi) for his help in that endeavor. And also thanks to both for their great advice and patience with my constant calls.

The car has only a few blemishes befitting its age such as a few cracks on the dash, a small nick or two in the paint and some seat leather that needs some TLC. But that's the stuff weekends were made for...

I'm looking forward to playing a bit with it. Upcoming mods will include a 930 steering wheel and short shifter, both to be installed by Garrity at his shop, Motorsport, in Salt Lake City.

I'm also looking forward to running an auto x or two this summer. I just have to get used to that pesky shift pattern... I can't seem to get over the 2nd gear position so my mind keeps telling me I'm downshifting into 1st. I think I need to drive it more.

Thanks to all on this board who have made recommendations to me and have answered my newbie questions. Now the fun really begins for you all, since I'll have plenty more questions to ask.

Today is indeed a good day.

PS, pics will be coming in a later post.

You'll get used to the shift pattern. It's easy.

After that, you'll be able to switch back and fowarth between cars w/o even trying.

Congrats! The shift pattern becomes automatic after a few drives. Good luck.

Thanks everyone.

I'm finally getting around to posting the pictures. If I do this right there will be three: exterior, interior, engine.

Red, your the only crazy one I know.

Everyone else that posted on the "Please Deleat this Thread" thread seemed perfectly normal to me...

Great looking car!

As others have noted, you will get used to the dog leg first, even if you regularly swap between manual cars with different shift patterns. The gearbox is wonderful because you rarely change between 1 & 2, whereas the 4 & 5 gearchange is often used in spirited driving because fifth is not an overdrive gear.
