My psycho issues w/ the 3-2 downshift are slowly disappearing w/ seat time.
One thing I did notice re: downshifting is that heel-toe downshifts are not easy due to the high placement of the brake pedal. The throttle is much closer to the floor so it's quite the reach, even w/ my big feet. Granted, I've not gotten on the brakes very hard yet, so during hard braking this may be a non-issue. Anyone else have thoughts in that regard?

I may be mistaken, but I believe that the brake and clutch pedal position(s) can be adjusted for easier heel/toe shifting.
Someone here will be able to to provide the adjustment procedure (if it does in fact exist).

Sadly I drove my car for many months before adjusting out all the slack on the throttle cables, as soon as I did the previously impossible heel/toe became easy peasy. I don't think I was even reaching full throttle before I made the adjustment. It was several more months before I found that the cable had previously been routed incorrectly and was catching on the fuel hose "guide", this was the causing the pedal to be very stiff.

Nice.
Get the books.
Forget about racing till you get to know your sHARk.
The 928 is incredibly stable, but, will step out on you. There are any number of post's over the last two years that seem to indicate the owner lost the rear-end, rather quickly, to the drivers dismay and the sHARKs demise.
Give your sHARk a name. For what it's worth, bonding with your sHARk is a good thing.
Now wipe that sh*t-eating grin off your face...your jaws will get tired if you don't.
Enjoy!

Way to go, Mark! I was so excited about my shark I wanted to sleep in it the first night. I bought my first 928 in '84. It was a '82 5spd model with 15K mi. During my test drive with the PO, I stopped at a light, shifted into reverse, revved the engine and started to let out the clutch. There were cars behind me. The PO yelled, "Hey buddy - YOU'RE IN REVERSE!" I was used to my RX-7 - thought I was in first....

OK... as I have never driven a shark before (please feel free to help me out there!) I'm trying to guess the oddball shift pattern. I've been in a Testarossa that had a shift pattern like this:
R 2 4
1 3 5
...Is it like that?

Yup. And once you get used to it, you realize that it's the only way. It is, in fact, everyone else who's got it upside down .
Besides, a 5.0L V8 provides enough torque that you could easily drive the car without ever using 1st (and 2nd takes you to 100km/h without getting anywhere near the rev limiter, so you never need to shift in city traffic ).

That's the same idea behind the Testarossa's gearbox. First is rarely used... so why not make the 2-3 shift easier?! I didn't know you guys had that shift pattern (us 944/951s don't) no I'm wanting a shark even more.... crap!

Thanks for all the remarks. I appreciate them all. I'll get the strut brace painted! I also noticed a bit of a clunk in the windshield wipers, so I'll have to track down that gremlin.
I'm dying to get out and run the car up to Snowbird or Park City for a scenic drive, at a respectable pace, but I haven't had the time to get the plates yet. I hope to have them done today.
What is the final verdict on pedal adjustment? I don't seem to have the issue UKKid35 mentioned, so I'm wondering if there is another adjustment that can be made?

On the bottom of the accelerator pedal, there are two bolts. remove and you can then pull the accelerator pedal back either one or two holes (there are three sets of holes for adjustment).
Enjoy the new car..
