Indiana "Nurburgring" event for Porsches
Is there any interest in a driving event in southern Indiana?

It's a "drive it on your own" event, open for 2 weeks in June, but there's nothing preventing us from using the same route any time without "sponsorship". I'd really enjoy having a handful of Porsches show up one weekend and driving the route together, stopping to enjoy a lunch or two.
If anyone's interested, let me know & we can pick a starting location & time.

I would help organize a drive. I am up in Indy. I could probably pull a couple of other locals together.
I would say after SITM and before Frenzy on the 928 event calendar.

Sounds like a lot of fun. I would have to blindfold my wife during the drive through Nashville, IN though, otherwise my participation would forced to end there.

I think there would be some interest out of Evansville (Southern Indiana Region) for an informal event like that. I’m leading a drive for Parade on some nice southern Indiana roads and I’ll be running that rout several times before Parade so we could try that too.
Also you mentioned a shop that might be able to help me with my 928. I’d like to connect with them if you could give me a contact.

Let's throw out a few dates that might work for everyone, or at least a general time period.
SITM is 1st weekend in June, so maybe late June/early July? Saturday June 26th is the last weekend in the month and might be a good time.
If everyone wanted to do it in July, the 3rd would be ok. The following weekend is the start of the PCA event at French Lick, so that may be too much for some. Of course, we could also do it in the fall when the colors start to pop. I'm open to suggestions, and this first GTG will probably be a learning experience if we are planning future events.

I think 6/26 is a good date if we want to do it early in the year. Tough call on a June vs fall drive, but I will gladly participate in either.
I have a mailing list for our local guys. I will push it out to them when a date is decided.
Looking forward to it!

I could probably do either date. I love the Bartholomew and Brown County area and do a motorcycle ride there every year in September. October is probably not the best as most hotels seem to be booked a year in advance due to the fall color change.
I've stayed at La Quinta off 65 and 46 at least 15 times and have never been disappointed. Happy hour at night with free Stella, wine and snacks along with a great breakfast buffet...at least before Covid. Last September, happy hour was cancelled and breakfast was a brown bag with granola bars and juice.
Story Inn might be cool too. I've never stayed there, but I hear all their rooms and cottages are haunted.

Since we have more than two agreeing that the June 26th would work, let's set that as a tentative date for our first Nurburgring event. I'll start working on the arrangements & have more info soon.
If we do it on that date, we can "officially" enter the event as a team (if we have at least 5). Or we can just wing-it & make this our own deal. Personally, I can go either way.
We also have to decide where we want to meet and start our group drive. It sounds like everyone is coming from a different direction, so let's hear some suggestions.

Reminder, June 26th is the date we'll meet up and try this event.
Still open to suggestions on where to meet along the route. I think Bloomington, IN is probably the best start/stop point, so if there are any specific spots in that area where any of you locals know would serve as a good meeting place, let me know.

The drive is on!
We will meet Satuday, June 26 10:00am at Crumbles Coffee in Bloomington:
Crumble Coffee & Bakery
532 N College Ave
Bloomington, Indiana 47404
We will then run the full 175mile loop ending a block from where we started at Upland Brewing for dinner and drinks.
Let us know if you are planning to join us for the run. Please arrive at Crumbles with a full tank of gas, so we can head out as soon as everyone arrives.
Also, please indicate if you would like to actively participate in the contest, or just run the drive. It was suggested that if we enter the contest, the team name Trufflehunters be used, as a nod to the mighty 917 road racer.
See you there!
