16V Intercooled Twin-Screw Supercharger Project begins at 9:00 pst tonight.

Edit: 08/06/05 This is an old thread from a year and a half ago that someone bumped up today. I am not going to be selling 16v systems. Would be lots of fun but just don't have the time for it anymore.

Hello All,

What exciting times for 928 performance products development.

Tonight at 9:00 pst I will be picking up the newly purchased '80 5 speed and so will begin the Intercooled Twin-Screw(and Eaton) 16V Supercharger project. I will be using the Autorotor 2.2 L twin-screw. This unit is part of the Kenne Bell upgrade for the Mustnag Cobra that produces 701RWHP.

One of the things that excites me most about this project is that the system will be completely different than 32V. Some of the same parts may fit but ortherwise it is a clean slate. With all that I have learned about SCind and Mfg it should go quickly. Not to mention there are 2 cars to test on, mine and Jim's.

I will be providing updates on my site at www.928supermodel.com

I'd start on Jim's first...

(Just in case...)

I still drive the very brown 1980 most of the time , usually with at least 4 of my "race" wheels tires in the back , helmet , spare parts box , floor jack so I think Andy felt it would be best to limit the down time ; besides he needed a race car !

BC,
Keep quiet or your car will be the next mule.

Andy -

I have an extra S2 that could be used as a test mule!

That is..when it's not on the track!

bcdavis 03-29-2004 10:33 PM

My car is getting smogged this week.

Need a CIS mule?

;)

hmmmmm...

Bodykit or supercharger...
What to do with that tax refund...

GoRideSno 03-29-2004 10:49 PM

Drewster,
The 84-86 Euro cars (S2) will benefit from this development. The system will be easily adaptable to the LH Jetronic system of the S2 from the L Jetronic of the 80-84 US cars the system will be developed on. The hurdle will be the 10.4:1 CR of the S2. The 80, 81 and 82 US cars have 9.0:1 and the 83, 84 have 9.3:1.
Since I will be using the most efficient intercooler cores available, the 10.4:1 CR wouldn't be a big hurdle.

BC we really should get together soon and to take look at the German Carb and see if I can get it to work.

PLEASE keep me posted........and Thanks!

BC, you should invest that tax refund in some penny stock, then buy both the body kit and the positive displacement blower!

SharkSkin 03-30-2004 02:54 AM

Did someone say CIS? :D

bcdavis 03-30-2004 02:36 PM

928 Motorsports has a CIS kit ready to run.
But they just raised their prices quite a bit.
And anytime a performance mod is worth more than the car it is going on,
it makes it hard to swallow...

Hi Andy,

Trying the Autorotor now, since we chatted about them VS Whipple? I think you should look at the Kleemann guys, www.kleemann.dk and see how they integrated the Laminova cores into the manifold.. The Laminova stuff is much better than the Ford type stuff you are using now..

Did you speak to Stefan at Opcon/Autorotor..? After I gave you the info, I have not heard from you, so I guessed you were busy.. Anyway, I think the 16 V will be able to take as much boost as the KB Cobras due to the lower compression.. Should be fun...! I will send you a pic of mine when I'm done..

PS.. I think that the Autorotor is a bit better than the Whipple, the rotor tolerance profiles are more precise... Anyway, congrats, and have fun..!

The cobras run an 8.5 compression, they're definately made for boost.

I have been looking for that "Laminova" site for ages i just tried again and it was my first hit. I dont know why i couldnt find it earlier.

They are pretty slick
