Carolinas and Georgia Regions Dyno Day Interest??
OK folks, as the 928OC "event co-ordinator" for the Carolinas Region, I am trying to put together a single day 928 event in mid May. It will be a combination Dyno Day, cookout, and cruise-in. I still have get the correct weekend "set", so for now I am guaging interest.
The plan is to meet at the BMW plant off I-85 in Greer, S.C. around 8am on the Saturday, and drive to the dyno shop. Dyno until around 12 or 1pm (depending on the number of participants) (also the dyno rate is $30.00 for a standard 3 pull session on a DynoJet 248C--VERY cheap rate!!!!) then head on over to casa de' Lockhart for some burger, dogs, beer, and general 928 bench racing etc.... Then around 4-4:30pm, head to downtown Greenville for one of the nicer cruise-in/car shows in the Upstate. They usually have a very interesting mix of 50's, 60's, and 70's American Iron, as well as a few late model sports cars, etc.... IMHO, one of the better cruise-in venues that I have ever attended.
It would be great if we could get around 10 928'ers or so to show from the region. Either reply to this post if interested (with contact info) or e-mail me privately at: Biguns928gt@charter.net
Hopefully I'll have the weekend nailed down by mid week, but for now I at least want to see if there is enough interest.

Ian, I sure don't see a problem with a few more water cooled brethren. It may be a 928 event that I'm trying to put on, but as far as I'm concerned ALL are welcome.

Come on folks, no one besides Ian is interested????? I know we have a pretty large 928 contingent in the N.C., S.C., and GA. areas. I would think that more folks would be jumping at the chance for a Spring gathering. BTW, it looks like it will be the second Saturday in May. I don't have the calendar in front of me at the moment, so I'm not sure of the date. Come on folks, even if you don't want to dyno, at least show up to watch, eat, and show-off your car!!!!!!!!!!

I'm interested, but need to get the shark running again. Also, I have several prior engagements during May. It would depend on the date.
Have you contacted David at 928 Specialists?

I hope some other people chime in, I know I put a 944 dyno day together last year and the list of people went from 2 to 20 and settled back at 8 when all was said and done.
Just a question of the people seeing the thread.

Hammerhead, it looks right now to be Saturday May 8th. Get that 928 put together and bring her on!!!!!!! No I haven't called David yet, but as long as he and Jeannie are free, I'm sure they'll bring one of the two 928's down for some fun.

chris,
I'm in and I will make a challenge for the top of the heap for gt's so maybe we can get dave out of the mountain retreat to come down to the lower elevation of greenville where the air is heavy.
I needed a reason to work on the car anyway. I will buy the ribs for the barbecue if i can't pull 320 to the wheels. Ok, I will buy the ribs and prep them just in case.

I called Jeannie today at 928 Specialists, and she said it sounded like a fun gathering. She needed to check with David and his schedule, but seemed to think it would be do-able.
Come on folks, where else can you get a dyno session for $30.00, a free meal w/ adult beverages, and a free cruise-in/car show??? One helluva good deal if you ask me. It should be a great one day event!!!!!
