Thanks Stan, if I have time I may just do those 2 recommendations. Your advice and others has been very helpful.

icsamerica - I'm on the same page, these are fun cars and I prefer manuals. I came across this 1 owner by chance through a mutual friend and decided to take it, but, yes, I don't get the real enjoyment with the Auto.

I'll add the listing to Renn today. Ultimately maybe I'll do an auction but seems like too much work at the moment.

I just did a 200 mile run through Harriman and Bear Mountain with my 87 911 and managed to stay with the front of the pack with modern 911's. BMW's and McLaren's - I chalk it up to the drivers since those cars should have been leaving me in the dust.

Let's discuss off line meeting up somewhere as I would love to drive your car. You may want try the 911 however over the 928 auto

Thanks

umm yea, never drove a 911. That would be great. Right now my 928 is getting some track upgrades and I'm changing the setup. I'll PM when it's back on it's wheels and ready for a Shake down run.

BAT was easy, I sent in picts and scanned some docs, wrote a few notes, they did the rest. The "work" comes from answering the questions in the comments but it will be a familiar forum format like Rennlist.

FWIW BaT will now come take good pictures of your car, and write up the ad and host it for 300.00,
its not much money if you want to sell your car to a higher cachet of buyers

Thanks, didn't know that about BAT - will investigate. Just posted on Renn.

Based on current market, do you think $21.5 is realistic ? I still see many $8k cars around, but not in this condition.

I'm thinking high to mid teens once the bolster is fixed, but as with any auction, ya never know. Right color, low mileage anything in good condition does well on BAT, as it should. Fix that bolster and give it a go.

add in new headlights as well,
plus consider the door inserts,

making things slightly different can cause the desirability to go up,
and thus make 2 bidders fight for the right to PARDY

Default Sport Seats

If you are willing to wait, I believe your price is on the low side, if anything, for such a low mileage, well cared for example, in a color that ties the 928 form together like no other because it makes all the seams disappear.

I believe you also have Sport Seats? Not for everyone and some may say a waste on an automatic, but they are very rare, lighter (only 4-way adjustable) and, for many, a desirable option.

If you put it on BaT, I would:
1. Replace the front floor mats with something more traditional (stock or Coco Mats)
2. put regular or warm white led bulbs in the interior lights.
3. Make sure you state that it has Sport Seats!

I would be concerned about who shows up from Craigslist, and, personally, would take it off of there and not answer any more calls. If someone earnestly wants it, they will find it.

I'll toss in my .02...

First off - Find and buy your 5-speed car and put those sport seats in it! Sport seats are my favorite option in any 928!

Second - Drive a few 5-speeds before buying one. They all have slightly different shifting personalities. I have three GT's and they shift differently - with my 90 Outlaw being light, intuitive and super quick. The two 91 GT's are slightly heavier feeling with the XX8 car being the heaviest of the two.

I prefer all of the 928 5-speed's to my present or former 901, 964 and 997 manual 911's (964 being my favorite out of them). The 911's just do not have the solidity of the 928.

As for the Rogerbox GTS? Its a great cruiser and it loves big sweeping turns at speed, but it's no where near the fun of the 5-speed's (I rarely drive it and totally understand your lust for the 5-speed).

Enjoy the chase, there are some great 928 5-speeds out there!

As for the PDK cars? That's a whole different driving experience.

Thanks for all the useful feedback.

Those are sport seats and are great. I will look into the cost to repair the bolster. I'm embarrassed but I put the mats in - I thought the color might brighten the interior but never liked them or the fit. I may just put stock back in. There are a bunch of scammers on CL but I can generally pick them out and ignore/delete. I have actually met a few local porschephiles through it, but advice understood.

If it doesn't sell soon, I'll consider BAT - would like to sell before winter sets in but in no real rush other than to make some room.
