Help with 1984 wiring and no start.

Can anyone help identify this wire. It is similiar to the ignition green wire under the hood. It is also in a loom with a smaller brown and blue wire behind the fuse block.

Here's a couple you posted in my FB group. Have not had time to pull out the WSM to assist, my apologies.

I think that is for the OX sensor. The green wire should go to the L-Jet. The blue should go to W8, and the brown i would guess would be grounded above the CE panel.

The wiring from the OX sensor should come through a hole in the trans tunnel, you might have to peel back a little of the carpet.

Thanks Alex for the small add on with numbers for the connectors many should be able to use this info.

Thank you, I think I can discount that as my no start issue.

The car only starts with jumper wire in the fuel pump relay spot. Could the factory alarm be blocking a signal? if so is there a bypass?

Yes. You can use a bypass jumper on the Z-plug. You need to search for the exact terminals. Maybe 1 to 4? Please double check.
Good luck,
Dave

Getting to that connector requires removing the glove box. The alternative is easier by unplugging the Z connector and bridging connections at the CE panel, as shown.

Thanks, Moose. That's the one.

My '84 Euro used to do that: Start only with a jumper in the fuel pump relay slot. Determination was made that the fuel pump relay apparently gets it's ground from the LH, and basically it's one of the stages of the LH going bad. I had the LH rebuilt by John Speake (through Roger) and the issue has never again resurfaced.

I know the 84 Euro (LH fuel injection) is substantially different that the US version (L jet fueling), but I thought it might help to check the relay ground.

See if you can source a local who will let you plug you L jet computer into their running 928 to test your computer. If their engine will not start without a jumper in the fuel pump relay, you will know what the problem is.

no plug in that spot. does this mean the factory alarm has been taken out or it never had one?

the male connection is missing for z6 port

this is possibly it and has been taped up?

Have you long or short keys? If short you havenīt factory alarm. Option codes M520 or M525 or M533 or M534 are Porsche Alarmsystems. Look at the sticker under the carpet in the back.

none of those codes listed so I guess I can discount that as my no start issue?
