Default 1978 TT Super Bearings

This drivetrain work on my ‘78 has somewhat gone off the deep end as I’m generally obsessed with doing things right on the first try. So when it came time to address the TT bearings in this process I looked at all of the available options I could find.

There were quite a few solid choices but I kept coming back to what Constantine offers with Black Sea. I have the added benefit of being in the greater ATL area which allowed me to drop off and pick up the tube which negated any shipping expense.

First of all, you wouldn’t believe how well this TT was wrapped up and protected when I received it back. It took me nearly 20 minutes to fully unwrap it. Some may see that as a headache but I truly appreciate that type of attention to detail. And as you can hopefully see from the pics, this thing is like a work of art. They even polished up the shifter ball too! I wonder if he has a patent for the protective cap on the end of the driveshaft?

Oh, and this is the original tube and driveshaft. It has the early “clean” TT that doesn’t have an attachment point for the shifter rod guide bushing. Constantine said everything was in great condition but his team obviously took it to the next step. This thing is totally silent and smooth as butter when I turn the driveshaft by hand. I couldn’t say that when I first removed it from the car before being rebuilt.

Constantine is the best. I've had the pleasure of driving and owning cars with his Super Bearings and Super Clamp. Quality work no doubt.

And he'll powder coat the torque tube in any color as long as it's black. :-)
