OK, that makes sense, they call the cladding under the door "side skirts" like the car pictured above? Is this photo showing what yours looks like? In red it must be gorgeous! I can't wait to see one of the XC1 cars in the flesh!
Now it is on to that 01261 option? Rob, is there any way to figure that one out? It's on the same line as the "Exclusive Manufacture" option code and must denote something of interest.
Cheers!

Hallo everyone
indisch rot 928 GT. The car was purchased new in Germany in 1989 by a Japanese banker. He moved back to Japan in 1991 and sold it in 1998. In 2008 it was imported from Japan to Norway and I bought it last year.
It was delivered with the XC1 option which I think is very rare.

I may need to partially recant my earlier statements, that Red XC1 GT is pretty tasty. Maybe it's the color.

I suppose that the XC1 code was introduced during the 1989 MY.
There were cars produced with "XC1" rear flares, before the 1989 MY, like the blue S4 with red interior and the dark grey. Both of them are 1987 MY (old style door panels) with "Slant Nose" (944 main lights).
There is another one in France, which is Cassisrot metallic. This one is manual.

I also have a record of a white 1989 automatic S4 with factory "XC1" flares, without the XC1 code: wp0zzz92zks840840.
And I know another auto 1987 with such rear flares: wp0zzz92zhs842013.

I will search for pictures. The first one, I have seen it, for sure. But it was a long time ago and I'm not sure that I still have pictures of it.

Before the XC1 equipment code, it is difficult to spot these cars. The transformation was only indicated into the Z-order (special order). I don't think that the EXC 824 and 826 appear on the build sticker.

The reason Im asking is that that the Dealer modified car I saw did not have the modified rear bumper as the factory XC1 cars have.
