Beware buying used calipers..
When you buy used gear, somtimes you can expect the oddest ****. Always look closely!
Really?? This is only a 13-cent M6x1.0x12mm bolt. FFS. Someone, at some point thought to bring up a normal bolt here, and this passed inspection of a vendor. Then thought to check the rest since this one had been out. 12 of the remaining 15 were not tight...much less any loctite holding them in. The few others were fairly tight but no loctite. One other bolt was a torx fastener as well. They were also marked “bare ready for paint”. They have a silver sati n aluminum looking paint all over em all. Gotta deal with that now too. For the pad retaining plates? Those should be button head screws, not regular hex head bolts.

The pad guide plates have one button head screw per plate. Two per caliper if ‘86.5+. 8 total.

Thread sense make yet not... What part didn't make sense. 2 of the 16 plate bolts were replaced, one was a ground up hex bolt, most were lose, none were loctited. "Rebuilt".. |

Yes it is true that with a used part you need to rely on the seller to inspect prior to shipping but just because its new and in a Porsche box is no guarantee in itself. We have seen many defective parts come to us from Porsche. I'd like to think that the seller will stand behind the error and make it right.
The problem has changed. Before Ebay, junk parts used to be thrown away. Now people list and sell their junk. |
