Default 1983S Instrument Pod Removal - "While you are in there"

Hello All,

I need to remove the instrument pod on my right hand drive 83 928S, as I have some small electrical issues to address. I am looking at replacing the foil circuit board with a 928SRUS item. Is there anything else I should look at while I have the pod off?

Regards,

Jed in Sydney, Australia

Replace the odometer gear if you haven't already.

IIRC the circuit mylar for 83-4 is $$$$$. If using the old one, clean the contact traces and Deoxit them. Same with the contacts in the 3 wiring hoods, but be aware the contacts are soft and bend easily such that they will not make contact with the mylar traces. They will need to be retensioned with something like a dental pick with a right angle near the end. If after reassembly any gauges act strange (temp pegging or moving when you turn on the lights) there is an earth failure - 3 of the contacts on the R(right side) connector are earths - BTDT.
Fit LEDs to the board?
