Fuel Tank bracket repair
Hello
The small bracket at the top of my fuel tank seems to suffer from a slight corrosion problem. Anyone successfully repaired this in the past? https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...fc3a78cd91.jpg |

Its not listed as a seperate part in the EPC however if there is a way of removing and fitting it to the tank without damaging it then shouldnt be too hard to fabricate.

You could make 2...😜

I was being cheeky. If you can figure out the details I will follow. Oh for a CAD system, 316 and a laser cutter..

made a new one
fabbed a replacement from 16 Gauge sheet metal. covered with rubberized coating and attached it to the remnant of the original. I'll send a picture when I'm home from school tonight.

Is it salt that is eating your brackets? I notice that all who have responded are from the colder climes.

They're all from the land that drives on the wrong side of the street.

LOL. I saw that Paul, but in these times of Political Correctness, I didn't want to seem to poke fun at the Eastern hemisphere. :)

Yes salt is the main culprit. if you think thats bad you should have seen the rest of the car when I got it.
James adding metal to the remnants sounds like the best solution as I can cant see how to get the old one off and bond a new one in without using heat which may damage the tank |
It looked something like this from memory
