Fuel Tank bracket repair

Hello
The small bracket at the top of my fuel tank seems to suffer from a slight corrosion problem. Anyone successfully repaired this in the past?

Haha its in my near future too. It's an aluminium flat plate that has multiple (4?) "hooks" on the bottom edge that slide into holes in the tank top. There is a single hole for a bolt at the top. What I don't have is a full pattern, just maybe more left of my original. Don't know if these are available new?

Its not listed as a seperate part in the EPC however if there is a way of removing and fitting it to the tank without damaging it then shouldnt be too hard to fabricate.

If I can figure out what it looks like and how to remove/fit it I dont mind knocking up an extra one.

I was being cheeky. If you can figure out the details I will follow. Oh for a CAD system, 316 and a laser cutter..

made a new one

fabbed a replacement from 16 Gauge sheet metal. covered with rubberized coating and attached it to the remnant of the original. I'll send a picture when I'm home from school tonight.

Is it salt that is eating your brackets? I notice that all who have responded are from the colder climes.

They're all from the land that drives on the wrong side of the street.

LOL. I saw that Paul, but in these times of Political Correctness, I didn't want to seem to poke fun at the Eastern hemisphere. :)

Yes salt is the main culprit. if you think thats bad you should have seen the rest of the car when I got it.

James adding metal to the remnants sounds like the best solution as I can cant see how to get the old one off and bond a new one in without using heat which may damage the tank

It looked something like this from memory
