Default 86 injector spacer problem

I've mistakenly discarded the little beige plastic spacer rings from the original 85/6 injectors during resealing.

The injector seal kits have new o rings and pintle caps, but the included grey spacers are way off, with much larger ID. Pintle caps are a bit long too.

Anybody have a workaround for this, or maybe could have some bad original injectors in their parts pile that would be willing to sacrifice their spacer rngs?

Mike Frye brought this situation up years ago and the consensus was buy new injectors, else sent to witch hunter for cleaning, and they will be automatically updated with correct spacer, pintle and o rings. Stuff must be available to the professional rebuilders.

In past, I've used these kits for o rings only, and found ways to sneak the new o rings past the original pintle caps.

Over the years I forgot all this stuff. Early onset Alz maybe.

Anybody find the right Kits ? Short beige pintles and spacers? I'll settle for the spacers only....

These injectors really still work great, don't need cleaning. Just the right seals.

I'm sure I have an old set or two, headed to a C&C at FCA's US HQ here in Detroit w/ my son, I'll pull these off and mail them out to you.
PM or text me your address,

Chris - I double checked and that is the correct kit for that injector.

Thanks Dave, appreciated, will PM.

Thanks Roger,
The 0-rings work on top and bottom, but the spacer and I guess the pintle are wrong.
Always been this way, I just forgot to try to leave the pintles and spacers intact and sneak the o-rings on only.
(This is the 3rd time I've done this on an S3, unfortunately I can't remember enough to keep out of trouble)

I guess we have all faced this before. See the Mike Frye thread. https://rennlist.com/forums/928-foru...ctor+seal+kit+

See post #6 for what I have and what I need.
Even WSM calls-out the 944 kit as being correct.
This new kit, roger, looks like that same 944 kit, except with the PN 1 287 010 704.
Bosch has a bunch of other injector seal kits, ebay or amazon online, but they are hard to pinpoint online, especially now that I threw the needed stuff away and can't measure. Looks like universal kit might work. But I just want to solve this without a major research project.

Once I found a set of long black pintles for sealing the 84 injectors, unobtanium to the normal guy, and have them here on the desk next to me still, from a marine dealer in fla. Even have the little screens for the inlet side. We need to nail down sources for these obscure parts. I had done a lot of research and intended to setup the source for others but I can't find that reference either..

Chris - I stock spacers - let me know the size and I can send you some and update the kit.
I also stock the extra long black pintle caps for the earlier cars.

Roger, that's great!

Dave will mail me some originals to measure, plus I'll do some other cross checking.

I've got some good catalog references, such as Walker Injector components, but its hard to definitively ID the right parts without dims.

I think the spacer is same as for Ford trucks, a G-1434 ( yellow, smaller ID ). But not certain.
The cap kinda looks like a 95-109, which is the shortest pintle cap I see.
The cap the kit is longer than the original.

I'll follow up. Thanks again for being there Roger.

Chris, I always remove the pintle's to access the o rings, just heat them a bit w/ a heat gun to soften them, they come right off, most of the time

I think the size of the stock spacer for 85 / 86 original Bosch EV1 injector is as follows:

0,078 inches & 1.98 millimeters THICKNESS
0.310 inches & 7.80 millimeters ID
0.515 inches & 13.1 millimeters OD
.
I got this from our 951 Turbo S, had a set of spare injectors.
Seems to fit perfectly on 85/6 injectors.
Will confirm as soon as a set arrives from one of the injector repair outfits and I complete the install, hopefully Monday night or Tuesday.

I found injector Upper O rings at a NAPA store,
each box has 1 pintle cap,1 spacer and 2 upper O rings about 4.00 a kit.
these sealed the injectors to my S4 fuel rails.

NOTE make sure that your lower o rings have a snug fit on the ID of the injector,
if they are loose on the injector then you can have intermittent vacuum leaks

OK, thanks Stan. Do you remember the make / model of what those kits were for? Was it Ford ranger?

Roger's kit has always worked for the O ring size.

Its pintle is marginal for the 85/6 (DaveK9 says they work --- he's our 85/6 6.5 mastermind)

Spacer just doesn't come close. I've known this for 10 years, but its amazing how much I've forgotten over the years. Ufortunately on this go-round I prematurely threw my spacers out instead of reusing. Been too many years since the last real refresh. What Porsche 928 is compatible with those grey spacers in the kit? Huge ID, way too thick. Does S4 utilize those?

Stan, another question, what years do you use the concave rubber lined washers?
Seems totally wrong on 85/6. They have thick flatwashers to seat the orings into the cam covers. Even with a thin washer, you cant catch the threads to use the rubber ones. And with rubber lined only, you cant crunch them down enough to push the orings into the cam covers. What am I missing on these?

Thank you sir. Will stop on way home if my new set doesn't arrive at work address this aft. Do you have dimensions of spacer in that kit?

Again, it's that darned yellow beige spacer. I'll carve them from a block of plastic if I have to.

The kit has yellow spacers and lite blue pintle caps,
the O rings are tan and will only fit the upper side,
as they are not thick enough to seal the injector into manifold

I know this doesn't address the spacer but good information on part numbers can be found on this site...

http://jenniskens.livedsl.nl/Technic...7/MyTip776.htm

An excerpt....

So specs summarized and avoiding confusion here...:
Upper O-ring: 944.110.901.00 Bosch: 1 280 210 752, OD:14,58mm, Thick:3,53mm ID: 7,52mm (std Bosch, fits 944 and 928 until 1987)
Lower O-ring: 928.110.904.00 Bosch: 1 280 210 765, OD:17,00mm, Thick:4,6mm ID: 7,8mm (fits 928S4, GT, GTS)

You can also choose a repair kit: 0 287 010 708 for 1987-1995 models, Porsche 928 110 904 00 (upper, lower, cap and ring)
You can also choose a repair kit: 0 287 010 704 for 1985-1986 models, Porsche 944.110.901.00 (upper, lower, cap and ring)

If you know anyone with 944 injectors, they may have the right spacers for your 85-86 application.

I bought a bunch of Pintle Caps for my S4 from NAPA yesterday....

https://www.napaonline.com/en/p/CRB215018

These seem to work well for the S4 and visually reconcile with the my son's 944 injectors.

Here's the link to searching their Pintle Caps...
