Default Wipers stopped working 1/2 up..

Yesterday on the road in a light rain, my wipers just...stopped, half way up.

Fuse is good, even replaced it.

Is the intermittent wiper relay part of ALL modes of operation of the wipes?

Guessing thats where I check next.

I think the intermittent relay is just that.
But I could be wrong

Covers replacing the bearing in the motor. But it covers removal & disassembly.

I would guess that you have an issue with the wiring (getting power to the motor), with the 'distribution' thing inside the transmission (the 'fingers and tracks' stuff) or with the motor itself.

Personally, I would start by pulling the plug to the motor and seeing if you are getting power to it.

Going to pin out power to the motor, and swap relays if dark tomorrow here at the racetrack.

Cant do anything today while working upstairs..kid will come do it tomorrow.

It just silently "stopped" right there. No hint of wanting to do anything else after that.

And today, mid May in CA, its raining.

I had a similar issue...when I turned off the wiper it would just stop wherever it happened to be, and would not return to the bottom of the windscreen.
I removed and cleaned/deoxit the intermittent speed finger-dial **** that is on the right underside of the pod. Put some deoxist on the slider part and moved it back and forth to let it "scrub" the sliding contact point.
Fixed it.
(I didn't even know that dial **** was there or what it did until I researched the issue! It's fairly easy to get to with the seat all the way back and upside down on the floorboard. It will test your yoga skills.)
If that doesn't fix it, I'd go down the electrical checklist before taking the mechanics of the wiper apart. (eg. clean contacts on the relay, fuse, etc.)

Jeff -

What else doesn't work? X-bus relay? Else: the wirper motor gets power with key on, plus the trigger from either the switch or the delay timer. Once the motor lifts from parked position, the key-on power carries it back to parked. So you are on track with looking for that continuous power at the motor. After that you'll be into the motor/gearbox for the sliding contact. If you haven't been in there, plan to scrape out th ewax that was the original grease, and replace with some good red synthetic. Red grease is better, apparently.

Best I can tell, everything else still works in the car.

But I will have the kid swap position IV with the horn relay as well.

Glad it was easy.

We may be at a point where we need to "enhance" the relay-relay-relay recommendation to a relay-relay-relay-relay for prophylactic problem avoidance. X-bus relay would be the fourth in the sequence.
