Default Bring A Trailer's New Auction Services

I just noticed that BaT is now offering 3 levels of auction services. Basic (same as it always was for $99); Plus (They send out a pro photographer to take the pictures for $349); and White Glove (Where they "Do it all". Not sure what that means. Detailing the car perhaps?)

Here are the first 4 "Premium" auctions which get there own separate section the call "Premium Listings"

I know this post isn't 928 specific, but I also know a lot of us like following the 928s (and other cars) over there. Plus I am interested to get people's opinion on these new "services", especially those on RL that have used BaT to sell their 928. Would you play more to have BaT do more of the work? If you are able to have your car detailed and have a knack for photography, I'm not sure how these extra services will result in a higher sale price.

I think the biggest factor in getting top dollar is seller involvement in the comments. Looks like with the White Glove package BaT is representing the car for the seller. Hmmm...that should result in some interesting exchanges. I can't see how BaT could have more insight on a particular car than the owner would. Perhaps they consult them before answering anything specific. But hey, maybe they are paying marque experts to be involved with the listings?

Plus they now have either 14 or 21 day auctions for the high $$$ stuff. Still capped at a max of $ 5000- buyers fee no matter what it sells for.

It was bound to happen that the model evolves. This first "beta" version was wildly successful, so they are tweaking, and will use that to raise more capital to expand their offering and increase share value. I'm sure the original investors want a good payday, and adding to the menu makes BaT a better potential take out target or a good candidate for an IPO, which is exactly what investors want. This is how the tech world works. So long as they don't muck it up too bad, it still seems like a great platform, and certainly remains a disrupter for the traditional auction houses.

I can see maybe 10 day auctions, but 14-21 days will risk buyer/seller fatigue for the "premium auctions" that I am sure BaT will be very selective regarding what cars' deserve to go on the special site. They are trying to split some off so that 220-250 cars weekly do not get people tired of scroll through 100 lines of cars everytime we log on.

Middle package is good for those who don't want to be hands on with the photography of their cars, especially dealers, who don't care about the cars that they are selling or consigning. It takes me approximately 10 hours total per car to select the right condition, angles, exposure, and editing to get the right 100-120 pics onto the site. Time spent here will always reward higher browser's interests and probably price too.

I rather hire my own photographer where I have full control on what they will obtained and what I can use.

White glove? Who knows what that means, but I hope it is not a consignment services where they will answer all the questions for you and your car's auction turns into another "dealer" car. We know how those auctions usually turn out.

One more thing, I noticed that all the "back-dated" premium auctions were cars having been sold for >$100,000. Wonder why "OUR" '95 GTS 5 spd that was sold for $117,000 didn't make the cut? Have to tell them about it....
