Default Found a shark in a body shop yard

There's a S4 sitting in the back lot of a body shop, close to me. It has the D90 wheels, and is black from what I could see it looks strait, at least the front does. When did the D90 wheels come out on 928's?

Started in '90 (Design '90 maybe?) and ended in '91 I believe. My car shipped with them but by the time I got it there were aftermarket-chromed manholes on it

Could be a great find.

I believe they were an option - my 90S4 has the manholes, my 90 GT has the D90's.

Quite sure they came stock on the 90-91 GT cars but optional on the S4 of the same years.
But Porsche did put them from factory on few S4s in 91. Including my car.

Standard on 90 and 91 GT's replacing the Club Sports of the 89 GT. An extra cost option on 90 and 91 s4's. Although my '91 s4 had them as standard.

I'm gonna do some snooping, could be a great find, or it may be wrecked. I'll take some pictures and post them up.

I am interested in the D90's for sure. If you buy it PM photos (including valve stem areas) of the wheels and I'll make you or the seller an offer.

Thanks,

Dave

The wheels are chromed, I don't think they came that way from the factory.

John, I can only see the front of the car, to the windshield on the passenger side. So I don't know if it's got driver side damage, or why it's parked outside in the storage lot. I'm gonna stop by tomorrow, and get the story on it. I'll take some pictures too. I would be cool if it's an 89 like mine and a GT, and for sale cheap! I'll break my own rule about owning more than one 928, at a time. Could have a trashed engine, who knows at this point?

How fun would that be if it were a GT!

The best of luck on this one!

I have a set of D90's that are chrome and it is possible that there was an option code for it... Perhaps Rob Edwards or Samuel will know?

I don't think that it was possible to order chrome D90 from factory. I have not seen a specific equipment code also.

But I have seen painted D90 and it was interesting.

Maybe I just don't know the difference between CS and design 90s?
My 89GT has wheels that seem to look like the ones in your avatar.
