Default Question regarding block differences 4.7 vs 5.0

Hello again,
I noticed a difference between the 4.7 and 5.0 blocks in the flywheel housing.
My new 5.0L block has a fitting/opening that is not found on my old 4.7L block.
I cannot find this feature described in PET, could I please have some help in identifying this feature found on the 5.0L block?

Also, do I need to cover/close this opening off permanently as I continue my assembly? If so, is there a preferred method?

Thank you. Old 4.7 block shown first, lacking fitting....

And below is the 5.0L block, with the KJET dummied above...

Thanks for you time and help !

It's for the crank position sensor from the LH2.2 and LH 2.3 cars, '85 and newer.

Or just fabricate a tab from heavy gauge aluminum and bolt the tab down using the existing threads in the block.

'84 ROW

(Which is why there are unused mounts for ignition amplifiers in front of the radiator on '84 USA.)

I have a 4.7L euro engine of 1980 and have the hole for cps which was mounted from '83 onwards ( at least for the 4.7L euro engines). :

Gerrit, nice clean pistons you have there. :-)

That is amazing that already the 1980 had the cut out for the CPS!

Where are you located in Belgium?

Strange, I don't have it. Are you sure you have a '80 block? What's your engine number?

Luckily, I was able to locate a NOS block off plate from Scheissco.
Don't ask how much I had to pay for this.
