Default Explanation?

Can someone explain to me why this happened? 1985 US 928 five speed. Attempted to start one day no start. Trouble shoot discovered no pulse at injectors. I replaced the CPS and repaired a section of failing CPS harnes just behind it’s connector. Reassembled. I attempted a normal start with no throttle input;
no start. Verified ignition and fuel again. Both tested good. I attempted a WOT start and she stumbled to life then died. Second WOT she started and I kept her running with throttle input until she would idle. Apx thirty minutes later after retrieving a fuel pressure gauge she starts normal with perfect fuel pressure. Blipping the throttle fuel pressure increases slightly then goes back to normal with idle. Flooded? Thank you.

Likely the plugs got fouled from the injectors running.
These early 32 V engine are known for flooding if they dont start the first time .
Or if they run for a few mins then get shut off.
Its quite possible for the engine to flood.

Holding the pedal to the floor will clear the cylinders to let it fire.

Also, the EZ and LH computers are sensitive to voltage. They won't turn on unless there is >10V or so.

If the battery was drained from cranking it may have trouble starting.

And when what Stan and Ken explained occur together, life is really fun. Plenty of examples here where a no-start situation can last longer than a day- BTDT!

👍 I’ve learned to keep battery’s on the trickle charger when an automobile is down for repairs and resting, especially a 928.
