Default Does post ‘86 dash pod fit earlier cars?

As per question. See there are some minor changes to later dash pods. I would like to put a s4 pod on my ‘81.
Will it fit ok?
Thanks.
Rich.

S4 prior to 1990 will work. Airbag cars had a different pod.

There are 3 different pods, 78-86, 87-89, 90-95.
The first 2 are similar except for the ingress around the ignition key (opens up for later).
The 3rd is different for the same reason and the addition the front mounting of the wiper and cruise delays (possibly for more reasons I can't remember).
All fit using the same infrastructure.

I think this Rob Edwards-like illustration will show the differences.

Early:

Mid (early S4):

Latest (note: 5 **** holes enlarged sightly for refinishing)
