Continental ExtremeContact DWS 06??
 

Thinking of putting these on the 928.

I had these on my wife's 535xi and they worked great, and lasted long and wore nicely.

They are considered high performance all season, in my case they will never see snow. I don't track the car, and the roads in Toronto are not great.

So want something smooth riding (my current very old 18's feel like solid rubber, so anything will be better)

And since I hardly use the car, the tires will become stale dated before going bald, I would guess an all season will stay soft and plyable longer (I almost bought some used tires, that looked like new, but hard as a rock!)

Anyone have these on their 928?

The other tire I was considering was the Hankook Ventus V12, sharp looking, and priced very well. But I have never owned Hankook, and few dealers in Toronto sell them.

They're great tires. I always run HP all seasons as you never know what you'll inevitably drive into.

Conti's usually have softer sidewalls so they absorb bumps very well. I had a set of Conti Pro Contacts from a Mercedes on my 81 and it rode very well on 18s.

I'm now running Michellin AS3+ and they aren't as smooth riding as the continentals that is for sure.

I have the Hankook Ventus V12 evo2s on the 928 for 3-4 years now and they're holding up really well and they have good traction. But note that they're a summer tire only. Even if you don't drive it in the snow, you'll get horrible traction on a really cold day.

I have the Continental Extreme Contact DWS 06s on my challenger hellcat and they're also a good tire and do a reasonable job of "hooking up" 707hp of awesomeness. They're excellent in the rain as they're an all season tire (D=dry W=wet and S=snow), albeit, I've never tried them in the snow.

If you're looking for tires for the car in your avatar, I'm surprised you're not looking at Mickey Thompsons or Nittos :burnout:

Went through a couple sets of the previous generation (DWS no 06) and have 06's on now. Really like them (I'll point out I drive like the gramps I am).

+1 on the DWS06. I have run them or the previous version on my 928 since 2009. Thay are a great balance of performance and price.

I have DW06's on my 06 Cayenne and they are great value tires, totally competent in a wide range of conditions. I would not hesitate to put them on a 928 that gets driven a lot.

Show car, track car or a GT with 16" D90's? No...

+928 on the dws-06, I burned through two sets of these on my SAAB 9-5 Aero, including one winter on 20% tread and they were awesome. Also have them on the wife’s van.

I have the extreme contact sport on the 928. They are great too but tread life isn’t the best (that’s the price of traction). I killed my rears in 10k km’s. Just got a new set mounted.

Also all my sets have balanced really well.

I have a set of the extreme contact sport on wide rims. They are great in the warm, but turn into rocks in the cold. Life is short, but so is my life. So, I would not recommend them for a DD. I had a vibration at 70, but after road force balancing them that went away until 110.

This is not unique to a performance tire, and shouldn't DQ a tire from a DD option.

Any tire in that category will state no use below a certain temperature.

I had dws 06 tires on my Charger for a while. When they balanced out (don't know if it was the tire's fault or discount tire's incompetence honestly) they rode really well. I have michelin pilot sport as3+ now, and it seems like they grip pretty similarly, but the continentals definitely rode smoother. The continentals did great in the wet too. They were definitely wearing faster than they were rated for when discount tire swapped them out for balance issues. Continental's customer service is complete **** if you have to deal with them though.

This is becoming more interesting to me now. My DWS's are fine in the cold, in fact that is part of the reason I like them. But, that is on a Cayenne S and not a 928.

My Michelin Pilots and Pirelli P Zero's do turn to rocks on the GTS and 911 Turbo when it gets cold...

LOL!! That's not mine, I saw that avatar and thought it was the coolest craziest 928 I've ever seen!

Mine is a 1988 S4 5 spd, painted wing, GTS Mirrors, straight exhaust :)

WOW, is that ever sharp looking! I've never seen that, and never knew it even existed.
