Is your old one shot and you don’t want to rebuild?

Looking for a spare to run in the car while I rebuild the one that’s in the car now. Summer is coming and I don’t want to be without the car during the rebuild. It’s not shot, but needs some attention.

Finding a "working transmission" for a '78 is a bit like looking for the Holy Grail. Being able to test one is a rare chance of getting one worth the time to install!

Is it a 79 box or a 78 box?

As an owner of a '78, I'm curious if there is a list of the differences in the transmissions between years?
The engine changes are easily found, but I don't know that I've seen anything on the rest of the drive-train.

The G28.03 transmission was used throughout '78 and '79, and part of 1980. There are some minor detail changes internally throughout the '78 production run but any G28.03 will fit a '78.

That's a tremendous bargain, considering that a late clutch pressure plate (all by itself), costs more than that!
