How experienced to replace the Clutch
 

Looking for future projects, I've done the TB, belts hoses, rebuilt my suspension and brakes, fuel lines, rebuilt my pod.
I've done many clutches from Mitsubishi, Chrysler, Chevys.... ext

Dwayne's garage is a great source, but no clutch replacements. As all things 928, I bet there is a lot of special stuff to make it a real tough cookie to crack.
Reading up on it, just a little curious on how difficult on a scale from 1=easy 10=forget it.

928 Clutch has to be one of the easiest ever. Hardest part is lowering the exhaust enough to remove the rear most two bolts in the bellhousing lower cover.

No special tools, no tricks.

Easiest clutch replacement I'm aware of. In my case, the BH had been removed in the past and the two bolts that the exhaust blocks were not put back in (somewhat typical, 6 bolts for what's basically a cover plate is overkill).

Roger has the throw out bearing, you can press the old one out and the new one into the holder, as long as it's in good shape.

One possibility of a trouble spot is that if the pilot bearing has gotten too worn out, the inner race can seize onto the short shaft. It makes getting the shaft out rather challenging.

Beyond that, just be careful not to drop it on your head when you get everything loose and pull the short shaft.
Having a second pair of hands when you put it back in is very helpful too. One person holds it in place while the other fits the short shaft.

Very encouraging, I'm hopping to balance the fly wheel, as my engine or drive train has a what I call a vibration at all speeds. I think it could be the torque tube bearings or the old engine balancer. I know, by reading the threads here the
cure for all. The engine is not original, not sure how well they engine swap from the S3 to the S4 currently siting in it was done. I have a parts car completely identical 1985 S3 but it's an automatic.
My 5-speed is a hotrod, kind of an Outlaw, made to look and drive hard like a GTS. I could easily go back to stock, or keep it a driver that I can track. Maybe restore my automatic and just cruise it.
Any how, I'll see if I can spot some past threads about this subject. A dual clutch is what I want to go back too.
