Stop light alert coming on, weird.
This is a new odd one: When I start the car I notice that the "STOP LIGHT" fault is illuminated, with an ! along with the PARKING BRAKE light. Take off the parking brake, ! goes out, STOP LIGHT lit.
Touch the brakes, STOP LIGHT goes out and stays out for the drive. In fact if I start with my foot on the brake (as I normally do) it never comes on.
This is new and weird. Why would it light if the brakes are not on? Any thoughts?

That's normal They all do that. The brake light! will stay on till you tap the brake pedal. If it stays on after you tap the brake pedal, you have a brake light out. Read you're owners manual.

^This.
Apparently Porsche felt that the brake lights are important enough so that the system shows 'fault' until the brakes are applied & the lights activated.
I can't say that I disagree.

Ok. Weird, I've never remembered seeing it. However I did have an odd thing a little while ago: As a part of replacing the hatch seal I had to take off the top trim on the hatch. While moving that thick wire bundle to get the seal under I must have disturbed the connector in the trunk lid (the big flat one) because when I started the car I got no BRAKE LIGHT until I touched the brakes, then it came on. Wiggled the connector and the alert went off. Ever since it has been doing this, so maybe something was really odd in that connector.
Anyway, if normal not a big deal. Thanks!

My memory is not what it once was, but I think a 1981 Volvo 240 that I once had also had the brake warning light on until you tapped the brakes.
