Default Clutch slave rod orientation
did not pay attention when I pulled my clutch slave regarding the position of the rod. does the step in the rod face forward and
into the slave, or face rearward towards the clutch?

the smooth part goes to the release arm,
the detent is for the snap ring on the boot of the slave
