Mike Musto's 928 on One Take
Fellow Rennlister and automotive journalist Mike Musto (MrAngry on RL) was recently on Matt Farah's Smoking Tire Podcast and ended up doing a One Take session with Matt's producer Zach in Mike's '86 928. I spoke to Mike shortly after he bought this car. Besides being a huge car guy and 928 enthusiast, Mike is truly a genuinely good dude. This is video is good watch with great discussion between Mike and Zach.
I never knew that tidbit about the Millennium Falcon. Cool!

"A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away a talented young racing seat designer called Geoff Dunsford received a call from a well-known film studio, asking him to create a unique pair of very special seats for a forthcoming film. Shrouded in secrecy, the young Dunsford did just that, creating a stunning design that would appear on the big screen a couple of years later – in what would turn out to be the biggest science fiction film of all time…Yes, you’ve guessed it – completely unbeknownst to him, Geoff had created the iconic seats for the cockpit scenes of the Millennium Falcon in Star Wars. To say that he was surprised as he watched it on the flickering screen of the Dominion Theatre in Tottenham Court during the Christmas break of 1977 would be an understatement. “I just jumped up in the cinema and yelled, ‘They’re my seats!’” regaled Geoff years later.
The good news is, that Geoff, and his son Mark, are still very much in the seat game, being the force (pun intended) behind the world-famous Cobra Seats in Telford. Although Mark’s definitely in the Admiral Ackbar position these days, Geoff has been tempted out of retirement to re-create the design of those legendary Falcon seats once more in a strictly limited-edition run of just 200 office chairs"

Being that the movie was released in May of 1977 and that production would have been completed long before any 928 hit the streets I call BS on that claim.
Unless it was inspiration only. But they look more like deep 911 buckets.

The design of the 928 started in 1972. It's entirely possible that the MF seat designer had some insight to the 928 seat design through an insider at Porsche sometime during the 70's. Or it could be an urban legend. Maybe Mike will see this post and let us know where he heard that.

That part in the vid where they both leaned Left and Right while doing the "air steering wheel" and making the noise about the BMW was Hilarious!!! LOL
I love a 928. My first Porsche was an 84 928.

So I guess I'm not the only one who saw the above vid then promptly wasted a half hour at lunch searching the net for interior pictures of the Millennuim Falcon seats
And I agree, I think the vid is wrong on this one. Otherwise, nice vid and find Nate

Damn, this video really made me want to go out for a ride, but I think we have another month of winter. I don't think I can get Bob to polish my car again.
At around 14:00, they talk about a comparison to a 911 SC. I bought one of those a few years ago just so I could compare them. The 911 SC is a better car if you like noise, the smell of burning oil, and the thrill of lift-off oversteer. OK - the lightness of the steering is genuinely wonderful - the heads or tails thing is only a slight exaggeration. Test drives available to those attending Camp 928. Hey - Bob, you did get one last year; we're even.
It just occurred to me that I've never driven a manual 928....
Thanks, Nate.

I saw that a couple of days ago. Not to take away from the Youtube Video (awesome). This is the 3rd 928 that has been on The Smoking Tire (S4, S4 Turbo and 928S), but I wanted to expand on 928 Urban legends. So, is it an urban myth that Steve Job got inspired for the Apple Computer because of the 928?

When did they do a Turbo 928 on The Smoking Tire?
