Default Fual Pump Check valve replacement without draining tank

I have a hard start and found the Fuel Pump check valve not holding pressure. I have a 44 Pump without the factory feed line and there is no way to crimp it. Can I replace the valve without draining the tank, of course it’s full🤭! I expect some type of leakage but do not need a bath.
Thanks

You can get Flexible line hose clamps (below web site) and clamp the fuel line from the tank prior to the fuel pump, then remove the filter and replace the check valve..

You will want to remove the pump to change that check valve easily. Pinch the hose as per above and disconnect it from the pump, then stick in a socket extension into the open hose and lightly tighten the hose clamp on it. You will loose a bit of fuel from the hose/pump and from the filter so prepare for some spillage.

Make sure you use new crush washers and tighten the check valve on to the pump while on the bench.

He has this or a variation. Not crimpable.

Do what I did last summer when I needed my tank emptied. I bought a cheap hand transfer pump and transferred >90% of the fuel to another vehicle that I deliberately drove to empty. Worked like a charm. When I broke the connection<3 gals leaked out

^ Yep, if a hard line then it's time to drain it. Good advice to transfer to another car vs purchasing a bunch of Jerry cans.

That’s what I needed to know, I was advised it could be done but wanted verify. I’ll just run the gas down I had a 18 Gallon adventure and don’t want to do that again.

I used this handpump to transfer most of the fuel to another car.
In order to prevent the suction hose from curling up in the tank
I attached it with tiny tie wraps to a straightened metal clothes hanger
and pushed it into the tank until it bottomed out

Thought I would do a follow up!
You can remove the check valve and replace without draining the tank you lose maybe a cup of fuel. I loosened the hard line from the filter “first it will not come all the way out” which is needed, removed the fuel filter strap then removed the nut from the fuel pump. I was able to counter hold and remove check valve with 17mm open end wrenches. This give you enough room to slip the hard line off the pump by moving the filter and replace the check valve. Pretty easy job so worrying about loosing the fuel in the tank is NOT and issue.

I bought one of these. GasTapper was worth the money to me. I've used it on several occasions on vehicles, boats and lawn equipment.
