Knocking when on and off throttle

hi all , when driving relatively slowly I notice a clonk each time I press the accelerator? It happens when I'm coasting then apply the throttle , if I release the pedal then back on it it happens again. The motor mounts are new and haven't changed the symptoms. It sort of Has a hollow sound to it . The cars a Euro s 1983 model .its an automatic . Any ideas ?

what brand of mounts did you use?
If Volvo then the fingers may be touching

Vibration damper inside the torque tube shifting? Clunk when braking, clunk when accelerating?

Mrmerlin 02-25-2019 07:27 PM

Yes Sean that a good idea ,
a thunk just after you come to a stop would be what Sean said.

My clunk is only when I accelerate. I dunno why. But I know for sure my clunk is the vibration dampener inside the TT. :)

Mine is slapping for and aft like crazy. Going to wait until it pounds the bearings out the front and rear and then just rebuild the thing with Constantines bearings.

I already have a 928 Intl rebuilt ready to go in, but I just have to find the time and facilities to do it.

Thats sounds like it could be the problem Is there a quick fix or is it a complete strip down ?

Bods,
There is no quick fix per se, but it's a most of one day job normally. Less than that if you've ever done it before, you have access to a lift, and already have a rebuilt Torque Tube. :)
