Dang its not too late to delete the side strips,
have the welder man weld the door holes now is the time to do this

The thought crossed my mind Mrmerlin, but I kind of like the strips......

Incredible writeup! Thanks.
Now...if you could document your installation, hanging and adjusting the door, I'd be set.
My new project car had doors off for paint and one was not re-hung correctly on one side. I've had trouble getting it just right. It might actually be a two-person job to get right.
Any tips appreciated in advance.

Hi Jason,

Thanks! I will document the installation, but it may take a few more months before the car is off for paint.

Taking the doors off definitely required an extra pair of hands ánd a floor Jack to support the door, so if you ask me it is almost impossible to do on your own.

This is awesome! Thank you for your undertaking to describe all that is required for "de-trimming" the door for paint. It's probably the trickiest part of getting the 928 ready for the painter.

The timing on this truly couldn't be better for me. I plan on removing door panels and tackling the side mirror issues in the next month or so. Great write-up!!
