I find this video very interesting, not so much about his evaluation of the 928 but the pure fact he is a professional automotive journnalist.
My most receent experience with an automotive journalist from Car and Driver doing research for Panorama magazine obviously did not understand the third peddle not to mention that the car had a dog leg box. GB is now replacing the completely obliteraated clutch which he destroyed within driving the car for about 10 miles and then attempting to do a burn out thinking that a 928 was just another muscle car. All my life and all the articles I have read, for some reason I thought journalist were car guys. Not so.

The answer to the thread topic is no. The correct answer has always been and will always remain to be, the 1984 928S. Auto. US spec. Google it.

+1 Is there a unique PSD/gearbox problem with the GTs? Did a google search and didn't see anything.

I think what Rob said about coming up on cam says it all..you can listen as my GT accelerates , when it hits around 4K, the flappy opens (closes? which one?) and also comes on cam, feels like another gear kicks in..

By the way I think the Guy is right the 928 GT is the best.. although I am a bit biased

I agree also! I have a 90 and 91 GT. Absolutely love them over the others. I will be letting go of the 90 in the spring but the 91 will be with me until I’m gone.

Decent video. Looks like Flatsixes just linked to the YouTube channel for the "presenter". He states he is 944 fan. Loved this: "On the plus side, it's not a 911!"

No airbag in that car - thought they were standard in all markets in '91.

Like Polecat, I like the auto. All the stick shifts I drove in traffic cured me of that.

Exactly, these are supposed to be Grand Touring Coupes they're not sport cars. If I want very fast and impractical, I've got the Polecat Pantera, with a 6 speed RBT Transaxel.

Whelp, I'm not disagreeing with you but they make a decent simile of a sports car when pushed. I was catching a 997.1 on the track - right up until the moment my engine seized. Not saying I'm super-duper driver, but I do ok. I was reeling in a car built in 2005 in my bone stock, street tire, 1990 GT. Sadly, the cost was a munched engine.

For what they are, there's nothing like a 928. They are fast cars, not stop light cars. To bad about the engine Doc. Those failures hurt the wallet bad!
