This is exactly how I pictured this get-together, and why I am staying far, far away... Actually, the first part of that statement is true, but the second part is only an attempt to conceal the envy I feel for those who can make it there!

Everything is progressing well for this year's event. I count eight 928 notables who will be in attendance. Of course, we're all notable just for owning one.

I have a detailed lists of tasks to complete on my calendar. Here is one unique to this gathering:

We're on a route that is a favorite of various motoring events. I happened to go for a donut and saw a tour of the Classic Car Club of America in progress. A very high class affair, they only sniffed at the Bugeye. They have nice swag.

At present, I'm thinking the Friday morning activity for the early arrivals will be to line up the eight interesting cars in our possession. Bugeye, Smartcar, Tesla, Unimog, air-cooled 911, Porsches new and old - call it the Eclectic Experience Center. With some training, test drives. Don't park near the 'mog.

In one month Chantal and I will be there!

Can't wait to see you all.

A big thank you Curt and Nancy for organising this.
Always a lot of fun.

See you Friday afternoon.

I checked in with Norleen at the Pine Tree Motel - they still have rooms available but they might soon be swallowed up by a crew of asphalt truck drivers for a big paving job - I don't think our fun runs are affected. There's a similar sort of place nearby, except right on Loon Lake - Conway's. Jay Kempf stayed there last year.

Registrations are running ahead of last year. We'll have some new people and cars - more spouses, too.

Won't be long!

Stopped in at Conway's this morning - they have rooms. Their direct number is 518 494 2211. If you're reading this Dave, yes - it was once in Sergeant Conway's family. His mother passed away, but it would still be wise to take it easy on our road.

That's my latest vehicle parked by the sign, a substantial fat-tire eBike that perfectly compensates for complements my ... style.

Camp 928 III looks to be off the hook fun!

I was at the Glen for a few F1 races and never missed "The Bog" event! Will never forget the human energy present when the vehicles were burned.

Makes Sebring look like Childs play!

Sheer mayhem!

I ran across this thread and just happen to have a 1985 S in my barn at my summer camp in Northville, about an hour from Chestertown. The car is in the middle of being restored to reliable running condition after sitting for about 10 years in my fathers garage. My latest task is to install replacement tie rods and boots. I know this is very last minute, but was wondering if this was something of interest to be done at your event - with perhaps an added benefit to the car of receiving a thorough inspection for work to be prioritized going forward.

BTW - I live in Corning - about 20 miles from Watkins Glen. The picture of the bog brings back memories - I saw them burn the bus that last year!

Thx,

Dave Pitbladdo

Dave -

I'm sure there will be time to give your car a good looking over, and talk about your tie rods. Not sure changing them can be done.

In any case, you are certain to learn a lot about these cars, so you must come!

It's next week! I just sent this note out to folks who have registered or I'm pretty sure are coming. I'd rather people came unannounced than be afraid to come unannounced, but, you know, I don't want to run out of stuff. (Shawn - I don't seem have your email address.)

============

It will be great to see you and your car. The main sequence of events is to get together Friday afternoon and then enjoy a BBQ at Headquarters - 192 White Schoolhouse Rd, Chestertown, NY 12817. A campfire will follow in a new location on our grounds - long story.

Saturday begins with coffee and treats as early as you wish, with planned and (probably) unplanned work done on cars throughout the morning. The fun runs will depart around noon, with provided box lunches. We’ll assemble as in the past on the lawn in front of our town hall for our own car show.

Some are arriving Thursday, and will enjoy a few work party tasks Friday morning, demos of my various vehicles, and lunch at the Main Street Ice Cream Parlor.

You’ll want to bring these items:

Long-sleeved shirts and a jacket (40°F this morning), socks and long pants (bugs).
Lawn chair
BYOB (beer, etc. - we’ll have soft drinks and water)
Parts you don’t need

Volunteers needed:

One or two people to man the grill Friday evening.
Fun run captains for the Newcomb and Lake George routes.
Check-in assistant.

See you next week,

Curt and Nancy

Now you all have it.

I'm considering coming up in a Boxster, if I can fit everything into it. I probably can, they're pretty roomy in the ends. If not, I'll be in the Cayenne, and can serve as a support vehicle.
