Where is the Tow Eye Tap
 

Morning everyone,
Hope you are surviving the season.
I would like to use the tow eye tap if it is still available. My 928 is an 1981 OB. From reading the discussion mine is the smaller sized tap.

front or back?
in the front its behind the grill on the right side of air inlet.
In the back its above the plate,
NOTE depending on plate mounting position,
the plate may have to be removed to see the socket

Stan, I think Ed was referring to a thread cleaning tap and not the location of the receptacles. Jerry Feather was working on one as of last year. Not sure of the status. Here is that thread....

Ed, currenty I dont know of any small thread taps. Yours is the 15mm thread, which is rarely damaged, as there was no alloy plug provided by Porsche to corrode in place, and there is a cover plug in the bumper. Remove the rhs bumper plug and see if you can screw in your towing eye, and come back to us.
