Default The car you drove in the year of your 928?

Let's see what you drove (if you were driving) in the year of the birth of your current 928's !
(Or...what did you drive when the 928 was just a poster on your wall?)

Mine: 1992 VW Corrado SLC (This was a little past 1989, I actually had a Scirocco 16v in 1989, but can't find a pic).

1984, Jr. year at RIT in Rochester NY - 1982 Chevy Citation X-11, H.O. V-6, 4-speed. Coming from a 1979 VW Rabbit Diesel, it felt like a supercar.

And I thought I was king of the world.
What's better then one stick?
Answer: two sticks!
With enough Old Milwaukee seven ounce bottles in play it could drift.

I don't have any pictures, but I think that would have been the 1980 Oldsmobile Omega handed down from my parents. That was my freshman year in college, and living in the dorms, I didn't have a car until the following year when I got an apartment with friends, but I believe that would have been the car I drove when I went home.

I'm remembering a lime green '76 Impala as well but I THINK that one was already gone by then...

I was 10 in 1980 so didn't do much driving. I believe my parents were driving me around in a beige 1976 Volvo 244 DL with brown interior (horrible).

In 1985 I think I had a 1984 VW GTI. Went through a lot of cars back then. Another one I remember fondly about that time was a 1984 Renault Fuego.

'89 Honda Civc DX, from new in 1989 to 2000. I regularly search Craigslist and Autotrader for another one, best all around car I ever owned.

The day I sold it:

Saab 900 Turbo, breathed on slightly for a little extra performance. One of the best and lowest cost-per-smile car's I've ever owned. It was black (of course), looked and drove excellent when I sold it with almost 300k showing.

What year? I DD a '96 900SE Turbo (black also of course) with 170K. Great cars. Have a ECU tune on it and it is quite quick. I call it the gentleman's turbo because the only "turbo" badgeing is on the front grill and is maybe printed in 1/4" tall lettering. Very understated, and polite.
