My first car - Capri S 3L V6

It prepared me for the fuel consumption of my 928

These photos were taken while on holiday in the Swiss Alps

Yup, I had a 1980 SAAB 900 Turbo. Have to look for pictures. Skyblue with outlandish multi colored blue stripes from the factory, Inca wheels and an inside that was exciting as pasha. Cute car and the nice side of 80's styling.

1988 Acura Legend, 1990 Subaru Legacy, and a 1971 Ford F-100.

Me too. I search BaT every chance looking for another one. Never imagined they'd be more rare than a 928.

72 Ford LTD, 4 door, blue with dark blue vinyl roof. Big engine, bench seats. Moved all of my dorm room stuff plus my girlfriend's apartment stuff from State College PA to Pittsburgh in it. Loved that car, but like I all of my cars back in those days, I wrecked and totaled it.

1983. It might have been a Peugeot 504, if it hadn't yet been sold to the Eritrean guy, or its successor, a '78 Plymouth Gran Fury former Ohio State Patrol cruiser that I put another 75K on. And the BMW R90/6 and the Honda Interceptor that were my DDs.

For me, I would have been rocking a baby carriage. I was born the year of my car, so... :p

Great subject for a discussion!

I was in college without a car in 1984. When I was home, I drove my father's 1978 Thunderbird or my mother's 1984 Dodge Diplomat.

Does this count? I was not old enough to drive yet when my "newest" 928 is an 1989 GT.
I was enjoying this ride at 6:05 AM daily to the suburbs to catch the school bus at 7:15A.
The picture of the street is literally 1/2 block from my house at that time.

There must be some Saab/Porsche connection. I have an '83. I was driving a '78 Saab 99 turbo at that time, the first year they made the turbo. Also in black (remember the velvet maroon interior?) and also with the Incas (what a cool wheel!!!) I had upped the boost to about 14 psi, added water injection, then later added higher compression (8.5 I think) pistons from one of the other models and an EMS cam, plus replaced the original 4-speed manual with a 5-speed from a 1980 turbo (which I rebuilt). Those transmissions had a unique sound which I really loved. Also lowered the car with stiffer springs and put on roll bars front and rear, and of course tinted the windows super dark. I had the flywheel lightened too. The car had lots of power ONCE the turbo kicked in and was a real handful in first gear when it did. Hang on to that steering wheel really tightly, because it would sometimes trade traction on left and right tires. I kept having to replace the layshaft in the transmissions (basically a solid steel rod). The layshaft bearings were very weak and when they went they'd wear a huge groove into the layshaft. I got to the point where I could yank the engine/transmission unit out without thinking. Not sure THAT is a great thing. Still, I have many fun memories with that car. I put over 250K on it!

I was -4.5 in 1978. What’s my prize?
