Default red paint faded on 928

Hi Guys,
The red paint on my 928 is lightly faded but on quite a big area of the hood, front right fender and the roof.
The faded part is the factory guards red.

I dont want to respray the Original paint. I'm thinking of goning to a detailist to have the damaged paint polished off.
On this
the thickness of the paint is measured quite often during the process.
How is this performed on the aluminum parts of the 928 where the thickness cannot be measured?

Have you had any good experienced doning this treatment?
We are probably not the first to have faded paint :-)

regards,

Xander, Holland

Thanks guys!
from Texas to amsterdam is a bit far, but I get your point.
find a very good detailer and he/she will work wonders.

And measuring thinckness of the paint can be done accurately with aluminum?

Higher qualtiy paint thickness meters work on both ferrous non-ferrous substrates.

Red is a color that fades badly.

It also polishes up incredibly well.
I've seen amazing tranformations of color with a simple polish job.

Find a skilled craftsman and you won't have anything to worry about.

It won't make it perfect, but try Meguiars #7. The paint on my hood wasn't as bad as yours, but several applications made a huge difference. The best part is it doesn't remove paint.

I had great luck with my red 87 using Mequiars 105 (heavy cut), followed by 205 (medium cut), followed by Amigo (light polish), then wax. I used a digital HF buffer (non orbital) with foam pads at about 2200 RPMs if I remember right. Amazing results.

go to a good detailer and ask for "paint Correction", which would include a wash, clay bar (with clay or synthetic mit) and then multi-stage polish, blemish and scratch removal followed up with a sealant or good mutliple layers of wax. Synthetic sealer will last longer but nothing like carrnuba wax to bring back deep luster.
