OB offered, no rub, no sunroof, 5sp, proper color

No affiliation of course, but looks like real potential. For the tall drivers among us.

Nice looking car. Buyer beware, be sure to see in person, test drive, and PPI. This seller has burned several of us.

Pictures from the bottom a bit concerning.

Those pictures have some crazy photoshop work done in them to make the red appear that red. Look how the door gaps have become almost invisible because of how much the color saturation was turned up.

Also, are those spider intake legs right. Usually aren't they symmetrical on both side of the manifold - 1 on the driver's side is very different than the others and doesn't match one on the passenger side.

What's the twisted piece of metal on the driver's side under the front of the car?

Prospective buyers go in with Eyes Wide Open and don't buy this one long distance.

I bought long distance and the filters applied on each photo slowly made sense once the car was in person. And you are only going to see photos of what they want you to see....

Being # 382 it has some interesting stuff, looks like the original fenders without markers survived (until the DOT got to them) and the really early white tool tray is there too. These first few hundred cars have a lot of unique bits.
Also a good example of how you should have to pass a test and obtain a license before you're allowed to do pasha upholstery work...what a waste of material and money.

those seats are horrible in so many ways. Besides no pattern matching, they are not even the right shape.

Let us not forget the operational word 'potential'. Taking the sunroof out, and rub strips off a car already fitted are non-trivial tasks. Changing a base color black, silver, gray to something more palatable like red, is also non-trivial. Fitting a 5sp to an auto car is once again, say it with me... non-trivial.

Didn't Andy buy this car for $4k a little over a year ago?

Post deleted. Answered my own question.

You are right on the money with that thought process. I respectfully submit that at today's market, "potential" is worth less than 17500 but hopefully the market will change.

Flipping 928s is not an easy or cheap prospect. If you address everything to a high standard you would be exceeding the market value in many cases. I have no doubt that the owner bought low and put significant time and money to get it to this point. The problem is that much of the work seems to be done to a used car lot standard which may necessitate doing it all or most of it over again.

Potential, yep. It has loads of potential. I love it at sub 10 pricing

If it did not have a 'make offer' button on it, I would not have noted it here. There is NO WAY the bottom feeder would offer close to the asking price. It's a semi-free country, anyone can ask what they like. As for the detractors, we are a rather exclusive market, I would say, and are much more critical than the ave Joe Bagadonuts out in Podunk USA. for all we know, the car may look and drive just fine for many hours of happy 928 motoring.

I'm not being a detractor, I'm saying this seller has screwed several of us. If that doesn't bother anyone, apologies - continue and pretend you didn't see my statement. Once the auction expires, he'd probably relist it as an auction and it might sell for $9-10k. Just saying what's happned in the past. I'm all for nice OBs for sure.

I did not accuse you of being a detractor. Thank you for the info on the seller. It should be good value for potential buyers.

I'm one of those buyers

I bought and b4 taking delivery drove to Houston to inspect. The car was not as described. There was alot about the transaction that left a bad taste. He finally refunded my money minus the deposit and posting fee. Very fortunate i drove the hours to Houston to take delivery or I would be stuck with a vehicle not prepared for. Buyer beware.
