Sure, early versions of the 4.2L variant would regularly snap their cranks, but this was fixed when the journal size was increased from 2.3" to 2.5"

Also, I seriously doubt TVR had any real development budget

No such thing as a flat plane crank in a V12, or at least non I've ever heard of. with a V12 you essentially end up with 2 inline 6s which dictate that you have crank throws at 120 degrees.
