Default Why the 928 is the perfect sports car...

From the 24 Hours of Daytona last weekend. Could never fit all this stuff in a 911 and arrive in way more style than in a Panamera or Porsche truck.

That last pic is hilarious! But your comment is so true- folks are absolutely amazed by what I stuff into the back of my 928 when I'm at Lowes or Home Depot.

Great shots! And I agree. You can fit a lot of stuff in our cars. Especially when it's just you driving. Like 4 full sized manholes, with tires.

Well, maybe we shouldn't admit to this; these comments say that it is NOT a sports car if you are hauling stuff in the back .

Guilty as charged: I was putting landscaping stones in the back at HD and a passerby complimented that I using a nice car to haul stone. I claimed I needed more weight so the wheels would stop breaking loose when I hit the gas. I stopped hauling building materials.

Why the 928 is the perfect sports car...

For me I've found that it is so damn reliable.
Also relatively easier to repair than most (mainly because of the folks here that are so passionate about it).
.............. and I can take two of my grandkids with me for joy rides

Actually this is what makes it a perfect "Grand Turismo" (GT) and specifically not a sports car

That was the point of the 928 from day one. Porsche saw the market moving away from pure sports cars to more GT's and poof - the 928 was born.

Nice pics and totally agree. My brother was there (drove down from Warner Robins with his son) in his what he calls BOB (bucket of bolts), older black/carbon fiber bodied 911 turbo. Too bad on the weather... thanks for sharing!

Fits a family of 4 and all their stuff for a weekend.....reminds me of the vintage Porsche commercial where 4 full size adults get out of a 928 at a marina and head to a boat....this isn't it but close

Hatch backs are the best for carrying all kinds of stuff. I've had 82-86 Celica Supras for years and I started a thread about all the stuff that's been stuffed in the back of these work horses. I started it off with carrying two 8 foot trees hanging out the back and it only got crazier from there.

I remember when my girls were that age, a precious time! Now they're married ladies with families of their own. Fantastic pictures!!

I once hauled a christmas tree on the rear spoiler before I whacked the wing.

Whenever I load up the rear it reminds me of the Honda CRX I had in college. But it's much faster and roomier, of course. Oh and thirstier.

Back in my orthopedic days I used to rip around with bins of trauma, total hip and knee implants plus their surgical instruments, donor bone and ligaments, bone morphogenic proteins, all sorts of surgical equipment.

The 928's simply swallowed it all up and got me from case to case without reservation. Loved the reliability!

Sometimes the Outlaw GT did track days on the weekend at Sebring or Moroso/Palm Beach Motorsports complex and then showed up on Monday morning at 6:00 am for cutting skin at 7:00 sharp.

Fun times... Great cars and Porsche should have evolved them.

My guess is that it is our responsibility to evolve Porsche GT coupes ourselves and keep the flame burning.
