The article needs some updating as it has the old msds headers and the 928 International headers are not pictured. Since I don't know if anyone really tested them it makes me wonder if the comparison was in theory only.

Are not the 928 motorsports headers made by MSDS?

UPDATE: be sure to note that the picture of our headers in Post #1 above is an old model. There was a request for merged collector headers, and we updated our design to include them.
Here is a current pic of our headers with merged collectors:

Here is how they look connected to our Header-X (Note this is not a regular X-Pipe that it is often confused with, but a Header-X that is made in stainless steel only to fit out headers).

Merged collector usually add to the mid range torque but less top end power. A good example is my BMW 635CSI which had a top speed of 225 kph when using long three inch (76 mm) collectors. Installing merged collectors with a waist diameter of 56 mm (2.205") the top speed dropped to 215 kph but with a considerably increase in mid range torque around 3000-4000 rpm.

I have the MSDS with the ceramic coating...X and H pipes...I'm going to get the "Pumpkin" hollowed out so it acts more as a resonator and pick up a few hp.

Back to the headers..i'm very happy with the gains in mid-range..on the other side...we do have a slight fitment issue with the steering box there on the drivers side...there's some high-temperature insulative material wedged in between to keep from there being direct contact....

the old msds headers had a small dent to clear the steering. Sometimes the dent is in the wrong place. Best scenario is to check the fit with any headers and make adjustments if needed before having them coated.

If you have had the headers jet-hot coated, or ceramic coated, that should be all the insulation you need. That's what those coatings are for - to keep the heat inside the pipe. No external wrap should be necessary (although it wont hurt).

I noted you are 32v... make sure your motor mounts have not collapsed. That makes the steering column closer to the headers too.

Hey fellas thanks for the responses. We do have new motor mounts...Porsche ones...so I think we are good there

The dent may be the issue, we did not test fit the headers before they were coated...I ordered them that way. The bit of material seems to be holding fine.

I do wonder however if the "fingers" need to be pulled apart somewhat...if I go around sharp curves I have some vibration...it's not exhaust..been under and through it multiple times...shields and all correct factory hangers are in place and pulling their weight..its when turning corners..lower speed stuff...big large curves at higher speed it doesn't happen...

Tried to move those a little more apart but can't seem to get any good leverage...but that's non-topic here...but accepting any comments...

Thanks.
