Seat revisit
Hi folks.
revisiting trying to remove the power seats from the parts car.
i cannot get them to slide far enough forward or back using the manual slide lever. I am about an 1-1/2” shy either way.
i can’t seem to get to any power plug under the seats. The car has no CE panel. Can I not put 12v on a set of wires on the plug that would connect to the CE? If so, anyone know which wires in which plug?
OR any other ideas? I tried removing the buttons on the side of the seat, but dont think I can get to the plugs with a jumper.

I remember vaguely having trouble with the Allen key method, which is how I know you can also move the little white nylon gear a few teeth at a time with a screwdriver. It requires patience and persistence but it works. BTW the gear has missing teeth by design.

To add some more info. The parts car is an 84. The seats look like sports seats, but they are cloth with PORSCHE lettering all across them diagonally. I thought they might have been out of a 944 or something, but the rear seats are identical match.
i did not see a gear, but once I found the manual lever I thought that was it. The lever only seems to allow the seat to move forward and back on a set of tracks, it just hits stops moving forward or rear, just shy of giving me access to the seat bolts.

sounds like you may manual sport seats. if there is a lever for moving the seats fore and aft I don't know that adding power will do you any good. post pics of the mechanism if you can. that may help us give better direction.

Just a guess, but could there be something stuck under the seats blocking the motion? Some aftermarket installers put the alarm system under the driver's seat.

Can you get to a multi pin power connector under the seat. If it's like the power seat connections on my 79, the two larger wires in that connector are the primary 12v power and ground wires. You can remove the top cover and get 12v and ground to the pins that way.

Thanks for the replies, there is nothing stuck. Pete, I found a few plugs under the seat, but the wires go around the seat base into a harness going rearward, not to the seat controls. Kinda hoping I can find the right wires in the passenger footwell to power up.

OK - this is the '82 correct?
Fuse 14 is the power for the seats. Should be a 25 amp fuse. If you can get power to that line you may be in business. It connects to the '30' Bus...if I am not mistaken that connects directly to the battery (e.g. unlike the 'X' bus which passes through the ignition switch. So...if you can find fuse 14, and tie that to the jump post, you may be in business. The power feed for the CEP comes from 3 red wires (big) that have ring connectors on them at the CEP - those feeds all come from the jump post, so if they are there you might get power from one of those without a separate tie in.
The power leaves the CE Panel on Plug L, terminal 2 (red/yellow wire).
The wires coming out of the CEP to the seat plug themselves should be red/yellow according to the diagram for '82. On my car when I had the carpet out they came from behind the CEP under the carpet, down the transmission tunnel and then branched out to the seat. It is a 2-pin connector that provides that main power to the seat itself. There is a separate conenctor that is attached to the seat frame underneath that distributes that power feed to the separate motors and switch panel on the seat itself. If you can get power to the red/yellow wire, assuming there are no other issues, you should have power to the entire seat assembly.
See if this helps.

Ooooops!
Sorry was thinking 82...
Checked the 84 wiring diagram and everything is the same - power comes from fuse 14 through CE Panel connector L pin 2....so +12v to that pin and battery to ground should power the entire seat assembly.
